Rattle1768/12

Oval wooden rattle with handle carved in one piece and remainder split and hollowed out. Pebbles(?) inside. Two halves are bound with twine at handle and attached through two sets of holes at each side. One side has black and red design, at outer edge, of head, eyes and ears. Other side has two large, double U-shapes and horizontal form lines in black and red.

Box1648/7 a-b

Cedar box base (part a) with lid that has a raised lip at one side (part b). Front and sides of box are carved with a horizontal ridge design. Three strands of wound cedar(?) cord are knotted around sides of box, and looped above corners of lid. Three metal nails in front edge of lid.

Bentwood BoxNb11.375 a-b

Bentwood box (part a) with a lid (part b). All four sides made from a single cedar board, steamed and bent into three right angle corners. The open seam is sewn together with strips of sinew. Straight sides, fluted on ends and one side. A separate cedar board is nailed on to make a bottom. Lid is constructed of a cedar board with one side having an upturned flaring edge. Box has been painted dark brown.

A long rectangular cedar plank with faded Northwest Coast designs imprinted in the surface of the wood. Plank is dark red-black overall, with black faded designs. The plank is darker near the top. Has a large longitudinal split at the bottom. Rectangular indention on back near top. Long and thin indentation near the base on the front. Small rectangular indentation near the top on the front.

Koma Qua Wife Mask1509/1

Copper woman mask. White face with blue around the eye and nose area. The red nostrils are cut out, as is the red mouth. The chin and lower cheek area has a black and red design. The carved upraised eyebrows are black. The eyes are large circular black, possibly plastic, pieces. There is a red ribbed shell headdress covered in white and black dots. Cedar bark hangs down the sides from the top.
