Square mat - very fine weave. Geometric design of intersecting bands formed by groups of dark strands running at regular intervals through both warp and weft. Edge finished by folding back ends to make a short hem and binding them down with an extra stitch.

Flared cylindrical coiled basket (bifurcated stitches) withsingle looped border and foot. Watch-spring base construction. Imbricated design of vertical bands of squares connected by a line between each. Vertical rows alternate between red cherry bark outlined squares, with cat-tail grass (?) centers, and connecting line, and black cherry bark outlined squares, with cat-tail grass (?) centers, and connecting line. Design extends to foot but smaller square.

Rectangular mat with woven pattern. There are six bands across the weft of the mat. Each band has eight dark strands with one dark natural-coloured strand in the centre. The border around the edges has three dark strands and one dark natural strand. The edges are finished by overcasting on a core of cedar bark.

Short rectangular and rounded coiled basket (bifurcated stitches) with short foot. Foundation of cedar root slats (base) and cedar root splints (sides) construction. Imbricated pattern of two rows of zigzags, in cat-tail grass (?), red and black cherry bark, connecting to form diamond shapes; third row of shapes are very tips of zigzag. Foot has same tips of zigzag, two on short sides, four on long. Fibre tied through sides of base slats. Fibres are sticking through the coiled row near the foot. Had a looped border at one time.

Spruce root basket with lid and handle: plain twined weave (two strand) with darker strands woven in and false embroidery over the darker bands. "Arrow-like" design in swamp grass (going opposite directions on lid and sides). Design is woven over band of darker spruce.

Basketry TrayA8513

Round coiled cedar root tray with handles. Simple interlocking coiled work (bifurcated stitches) on splint foundation with slat foundation sides. Separated handles, three strand flat braided border, and imbricated interior and exterior. The interior surface is decorated with a radial pattern that consists of blocks of red and black cherry bark which radiate out from the centre in eight rows (forming three concentric horizontal rows). "V" forms around the edge. Sides scattered beading in thick strips of red and black. The exterior surface has beading that alternates in red and black.

Round tray with two handles; simple interlocking coiled work (bifurcated stitches), watch-spring base construction, and sides with slat foundation. Separated handles and overcast rim with flat braiding under the handles. Partial imbrication on the interior base only. Design is a four-pointed star pattern of black (exterior) and red (interior) cherry bark. There are also four chevron figures in black and red in parallel position to the star.
