Basket3000/23 a-b

Small basket with lid. Basket (part a) base is rectangular with rounded corners, made in a wide weave with a large square weaver at centre. The body of the basket is circular, tightly constructed in a small weave, with two encircling decorative lines on base, and a line of linked red triangles mid-body. The rim is inset to hold the lid. Lid (part b) is round and fits snugly onto basket’s rim. Its top is slightly concave in the centre, and is decorated with a multi-pointed star at middle and circle of triangles around the boarder.

Bentwood Chest3000/22 a-e

Painted bentwood box. Rectangular box is painted on all sides with images of animals and faces in black and red. Two of its corners are reinforced with metal plates attached with nails. The front panel (part b) is detached and shows an oval face at centre, with hands at the sides, possibly wearing a headdress? The face is embellished with metal studs along its perimeter, mouth, and nose. The box is attached to its base by long metal nails. Parts c, d, and e are fragments from the front panel.

Bentwood Chest3000/21 a-b

Unpainted rectangular bentwood chest or box is attached to a thick base that protrudes out slightly from the walls at an angle. It is reinforced with angled wooden slats on the interior bottom edges. Two thin fibre ropes hang from the front centre panel. Lid (part b) is carved from a single piece of wood with an underside lip that fits into the box. Underside is slightly concave.

Medium-sized round/oval cedar basket with lid. Basket: Along the shoulder, there is a upward pointing triangular zigzag pattern. The triangles are outlined in black decorative imbrication. The triangles are red imbrication. Closer to the base, there is an upward pointing triangular zigzag pattern. The triangles are outlined on two sides with black decorative imbrication. The triangles are light brown imbrication. The base is flat. Lid: Handle is in the center and is encircled by outward facing triangular zigzag pattern. The triangles are outlined in black decorative imbrication. The triangles are red imbrication.

A small open basket, which is round at the mouth and square at the base. Body weave of the basket is over one/under one. There are six coloured strands woven into the body of the basket. There is a band of red between two bands of dark brown, with each band of colour made up of two strands of bark. In between each band of colour there is a strip of light brown bark. The rim of the basket has a different weave pattern and is thicker than the body. The square base is of the same weave as the body, made from wider strands of bark than the body.
