Carved cedar bear figure in an upright seated position. Bear is mostly black with dark reddish-brown and natural wood details. The bear has a long snout with two large circular red nostrils, and lower teeth bared. There are two large squared-off ears on top of the head, and two large black brows. The left paw is open with pad facing front, while the right paw is closed. A small frog is carved, facing upward, on the stomach. Base is flat, raw wood.

Finely woven of spruce roots, this small child’s hat is painted with a split image of a whale encircling the crown and brim, its eyes facing the front, fins at the side, tail flukes at the back. Hat has a slightly concave top, with a red painted circle on it, and a wide brim. Woven with various twined weaves; the rim is braided; the inner headband is twill weave.

Portrait mask with long black-brown hair, large black eyebrows, carved out eye holes and open mouth. Bird design on right and flame design on left side of the mask. There are four holes on each side on the back for hanging. Hide thong tied through the holes at back. Artist inscription on back.

Dance Wand3260/106 a-b

Wooden song leader's staff or dance wand (wutsaagáa), cut into two pieces (parts a-b). At the bottom is a short, unpainted handle, otherwise the entire length is covered in carved figures depicting animals. Many abalone inlays have been used for eyes, and as decorative details on areas such as wings and fins. The figures are painted in red, black and light blue. The back is partially rounded/hollowed out. The two pieces have been attached by a long wooden peg, through a hole in each piece. (The peg now sits in the upper hole, visible at the back.)

Rattle Basket3207/4 a-b

Rattle basket. Small basket has a recessed base decorated with encircling lines of green, from which rises a short straight wall. Weave is fine, with two lines of imbricated designs either side of midpoint consisting of stepped lines in faded shades of tan. Interior has corresponding lines of dark blue-grey and red. Lid fits over mouth of basket and is concave at centre with a large, squat finial. Design is of encircling lines of triangles and rectangles in light tan and orange. Set inside lid under the finial is a chamber containing material that rattles (likely beads?). Encirclilng rings of blue-grey and red decorate the underside of the lid.
