« A variant of the cup and pin game consists of a bundle of cedar twigs wrapped in string. At the proximal end is fastened a length of twine to which is attached a wooden pin which tapers to a point at its distal end (fig. 29a). This game was used in gambling and simply for amusement. It also was associated with increasing luck in hunting (Speck, 1935, pp. 198-199; Tanner, 1979, p. 129). » Vanstone, James W. Burden basket. Rectangular with three separated rows of animal designs covering all four sides. The figures are reddish-brown bark, with a lighter (yellowish) grass as background. The upper outside edge is reinforced with a rectangular loop of thick metal (telegraph) wire, held on with hide and fibre loops. The inside base is reinforced with a rectangular loop of root, bent at three corners.

Small Makah style basket with lid. Basket has a very tight weave and is made using wild grass. Basket has various designs on sides and lid that include killer whale's, Thunderbirds, and water. The designs are made using an analine dye that is water soluble. Which is also why it fades so quickly in the sun. Color is faded on the outside of basket but is vibrant on the inside.
