Ornament2569/10

Chinese hanging ornament. Design of bats, swirls, and Mongolian writing is painted in blue and glazed on front; similar design is raised on back of the ornament and not glazed. Orange string forms hanger above ornament with decorative knotted section and small woven bands above and below the knotted area. There is a piece of masking tape on the back of this section. The orange string goes through the ceramic ornament and has two orange tassels attached below the ornament.

Glazed ceramic scene showing seven Brazilian travellers; one man, three women, a girl, boy and a baby. All are walking except for the baby and an older woman leading on a pack animal. Two of the women are carrying bundles on their heads and the man has a gun and a pack on his shoulders. Three goats, including a baby goat carried by the girl, travel with the group. All figures are brightly painted, and their skin is left unglazed in the natural brown of the clay. The scene is mounted on a bright blue ceramic base. Stamp on base.

Pot2602/1 a-b

Orange glazed red earthenware pot (part a) and lid (part b). Pot is bulbous at centre with tapering top and bottom. It is patterned with impressed repeating vertical lines around the circumference at base, mid-section and top. Top lines border a pattern of ovoids and zigzags cut into the pot and the glaze surface. Lid has similar pattern of impressed repeating lines, with a rounded cone-shaped knob. Pot has four felt pads on base.
