Rectangular metal sword guard with low relief design of prunus trunk that grows from lower to upper right on face with spreading branches and has copper highlights inlaid. The reverse has a design of one prunus branch. Nakago ana, four chiselled adjustments; open kodzuka and kogai.

Oval, metal sword guard with four-lobed edge, triangular hole at centre, and ovoid hole to side of centre. Surface slightly raised above rim on both sides, overall brown patina, lightly hammered background. Low relief design of a farmer with overlaid gold clothing standing on a road and holding a rope that is attached to a bronze inlaid water buffalo with overlaid gold bales on its back. The buffalo stands in shallowly incised swirls of water with gold and copper water plants. At top an incised line of mountain peaks with three inlaid copper snow drifts. Back: at bottom left an incised swirl of water, scattered with copper blossoms. Open kodzuka, no kogai.

Circular, metal sword guard with circular shape, triangular hole at centre, and ovoid holes to either side. Edge is ribbed. Low relief motifs both front and back include waves and carp at bottom, writhing dragons on either side, and a pearl above which moves freely within a flaming halo. The carp, dragons and pearl are overlaid with gold and all connected by openwork vines which are undercut. Ana, copper insert at base; seppa dai, undecipherable characters. Incised; both kogai and kodzuka openings.

Circular with raised rim. Background is hammered and there is a lustrous patina overall. Nakago ana has chiseling and copper inserts; kodzuka, rimmed with softer metal, and kogai both open. Front has chain with some loose links that appears through hole at bottom centre, continues up right side as fixed links in high relief and terminates at top in lustrous copper anchor. Back has chain of fixed links runs from hole at bottom centre up left side and over top, across kodzuka, terminating in its lower edge.

CarvingNa1274 a-h

Hunter in a kayak with three caribou heads and shoulders emerging from a flat platform. Platform is rounded on the corners, three sides are relatively straight and the fourth is angled. The hunter holds an antler paddle (part b) in one hand and a copper tipped, antler spear, poised to throw, in the other. His hood is down and his hair is indicated by fine lines. Caribou each have two removable antlers (parts c-h), rounded snouts, dots for eyes and small upright ears. Two parallel zigzag lines run across platform in front of front two cariboo, indicating water movement. V-shaped parallel lines radiate from third caribou and kayak. Unsigned.

Helmet-style sea lion(?) headdress, with rounded head and flattened snout. Blue head with red around blue nostrils, in open mouth, scribbled below curved eyebrow bands and in crescent shapes on each side of snout and below mouth. Copper discs in eyes, nailed at centre and outlined in relief oval-shape. Open under mouth. Head is 2 pieces nailed together. Series of holes on top of snout, each side. Five holes (for teeth) on lower portion of mouth. Numerous scrapes on top and sides of head. Chip on mouth.

A pair (parts a-b) of earrings consisting of an end section of snail (conus?) shell. Shaped like a 'c' with a small opening (.5 cm.). Convex side is smooth while concave side has natural concentric grooves. One earring (part a) is more yellow in colour, slightly narrower, and less regular in shape while the other earring (part b) is white.

Mask with top knot of folded cedar bark wrapped with a strip of red plastic near the base. The mask is painted grey and has two indented diagonal curved shapes near the top of the forehead. Curvilinear eyebrow ridges extend beyond the side edges, and beaten copper is nailed to the surface of each. The eyes have circular hollow protruding pupils made of abalone shell, and the hooked beak-like nose has wide rounded nostrils. The open red mouth has pointed recurved lips. The mask also has a pointed chin and a series of black curved lines that accent the cheeks from chin to temple. Signed by artist on reverse.

Northwest Coast style humanoid face mask, painted white. Wide flat forehead has five stitches in a vertical row at right of centre; beaten copper brows are nailed above bulging circular hollow copper eyes, slightly indented at base, in black pointed ridged eyelid lines; straight nose has indented semi-circular red nostrils; open mouth has protruding red lip bands; two stitches in a diagonal line between nose and upper lip; black bands with three rows of dots extend from lower corners of eyes, curve on cheek to terminate at side rim; nails in some holes along upper rim. On reverse, cord is looped and knotted through a hole in each side rim, second piece of cord is looped and knotted through a hole in centre upper rim and around the first cord. Piece of folded cloth nailed above eyes; two nails at left of nose. Stitches and nails are to repair crack; paint flaking; copper on eye and brow on left have green areas.
