Black blouse with Mandarin collar, slender sleeves, side slits and a side opening with elaborate frog closures. There is a small pocket on the right inner flap. The lining is light green cotton.

Blue, long sleeve shirt. The shirt has a collar, side slits and frog closures down the front centre. There are two rectangular pockets on the lower front.

Rectangular shaped sash made of beige cotton; undecorated. All sides are sewn under. There are markings made of blue pen on the back.

Round hollow head with metal crown, sides carved to sit on shoulders, and deeply carved face. Metal plate on top with hole at center. Black paint around eyes, nose, mouth and back of head. Brown paint on cheeks and ears.

Grey and white hanten (袢纏, also written as 半天, 袢天, 半纏) with short sleeve panels. The sleeves, neck and border bands are grey. There is a grey diamond pattern on a cream ground on the upper portion of the front and back. The inside is unlined.

Blue-grey wataire hanten (綿入れ袢纏) or padded long hanten (袢纏) also known as dotera (褞袍) or tanzen (丹前) with multicoloured figures. There is a wide black velvet band around the neck and partway down the centre opening. The wide sleeves are lined and edged with black velvet. There are basting stitches around the sleeves and centre opening. On the upper back is a red circular symbol and a white crane holding a white banner with red symbols. Around the lower portion of the kimono, on the front and back, are three figures dressed in red, green, grey and brown holding fans and gold cups against a grey ground. The inside lining is blue and padded with cotton.

Woman’s very loose-fitting, grey-blue drawstring pants with attached foot coverings. Made of cotton, rayon or cotton/silk textile. The pink drawstring is made of braided cording. There are large gussets in the front and back at the crotch area. At the ankle, the fullness of the textile is finely pleated onto the attached foot coverings, which resemble socks and are shaped to fit the foot; the tops are made of the same textile as the pants and are embroidered with slightly darker floss in a dense floral pattern; the soles are black. The garment is pieced in places.

Red triangular head scarf with a yellow and blue pom-pom dangling by a string from each corner; double border of shiny gold ribbon sewn along front edge with ribbon sewn into a tree-like shape in the centre.

Brief-like shorts with a drawstring waist and a multicoloured beaded fringe with pom-poms around the leg holes. Front and back of shorts are covered in strips of brightly coloured satin-like material sewn into a chevron pattern. Front of shorts have a bilaterally symmetrical image of two red and blue fabric birds and sequin-like metal hearts sewn onto it at random intervals.

The thick wooden upper piece (part b) and lower piece (part c) flank a row of fine wooden slates with a piece of white, red and blue weaving in progress (part a).
