Pair of medium brown human hair braids, secured at the top with tightly wound black thread and cotton tape. Secured at the bottoms with tightly wound black thread. Thick at the top end, tapering to the bottom. Small bow of black velvet ribbon at the top end.

Hat1343/5

Woman's black hat with flat brim and cylindrical crown with flat top. The crown and the top of the brim are covered in silk(?) fur-like fabric. Three rows of metallic gold cord around the crown; two gold tassels at centre back. Underside of brim is encrusted with gold thread embroidery and black braid on silk fabric. Long, wide black silk ribbons, are attached one on each side of the underside of the hat, and they attach together near the top with hooks and eyes. Lined with light orange fabric.

Jacket1343/3

A woman's waist-length, close-fitting, long-sleeved black wool jacket with a wide low-cut square neckline. Lavishly trimmed at the neckline with black braid cord and metal beads in a floral design. Centre front opening has hooks and eyes. Sleeves are fitted from the shoulder to the elbow and are trimmed with fine pleating and decorative braid. Sleeves have some fullness at the elbow, but are tapered to the wrist. Button and loop closure at the wrists. Lined with striped cotton herringbone fabric. Fine draw cord at neckline to bring it closer to the body. A 5 cm. strip of a different black fabric added at the bottom to lengthen it. Hooks at bottom front edge attach to skirt 1343/1.

Skirt1343/1

A black wool skirt that is finely pleated in the front and softly pleated in the back. Has a centre back opening, and a waistband with metal hooks and eyes. Two horizontal tucks near the bottom. Lined with black cotton batiste. Original hem at lower edge is faced and stiffened with wool braid. 12 cm. of a different black wool fabric is added at the lower edge, presumably to lengthen it. Concealed pocket in left skirt back between the side seam and the centre back seam.

Blouse consisting of two rectangular, cotton, woven pieces hand sewn together using an overcast stitch of red and blue thread. The top, shoulder section of the panels are decorated with appliqué bands of yellow, green and blue bird-like figures following by a band of geometric shapes then another band of larger, birds. The appliqué is on a purple, yellow and red striped ground. The sides of the huipil are open and the middle has a scoop neck opening with blue, white and red detailing.

Blouse or huipil consisting of three rectangular, cotton, woven pieces hand sewn together using an overcast stitch of cream thread. The bottom portions of the panels are cream and undecorated. The top t-shaped, embroidered panel is decorated with sections of lozenge patterns, x shapes and figures in orange, blue, white, green, yellow, red, pink and light purple on a dark purple ground. Around the scooped neck is a pointed scallop-shaped trim in purple and orange chain stitches outlining black triangles. The sides are sewn together with the exception of arm holes. Pattern is the same on the back.

Single bound foot shoe with a raised heel and a slightly upturned toe. Heel is covered with aquamarine silk with multicoloured floral embroidery. Upper consists of bands of red, white and lilac silk, all with multicoloured floral embroidery. Top of upper is trimmed with blue silk. Lined with white cotton. Floral embroidery on bottom of sole.
