Rod PuppetIb412 a-c

Three-dimensional male humanoid puppet: large head (part b) fits into body with skirt (part a), and a control rod (part c) with a long shaft that passes through the body and fits into the neck of the figure's head. The body has jointed arms, each with a long controlling rod attached. Green face, positioned downwards, with exaggerated features: wedge shaped nose, bulging white eyes with red irises, wide red lips and white teeth. Moustache, small beard, hair, and other facial details in black. Tear-drop shaped decoration on both cheeks. Wound head cloth with diadem in red, green, and gold. Gold badong at rear with green Garuda Mungkur (short tongue) with grey base and red and gold sumping. Five curls of black hair extend from headdress at rear. Gold neck and torso, muscular but not corpulent. Arms have red and gold ornaments at wrists and biceps. Hands held flat and bent back at wrist. Red chest covering and apron with brown wavy trim, sequins, and bead decoration. Apron has red waistband, long yellow fringe at bottom. Long batik skirt, beige with blue and red.

Pouch of red wool with six sides and a blue ribbon border with white beads along the edge. Two beads lie flat and a third on edge. On one side there are is a four-petaled flower design in the centre, surrounded by concentric circles of different coloured beads, some in a zigzag pattern forming the otter design. Outside the circle there is a double-curl motif. On the other side there is a series of diamond shapes in the centre, surrounded by the "otter" design and the double curve motif. The beads are sewn on by the 'lazy stitch' method, the beads are threaded and looped to the material every sixth bead. The interior is lined with tan fabric.

A string of beads with groups of small dark brown wooden beads divided at intervals by a twelve single brown beads of a larger size. Coral-coloured beads (four ceramic and one wooden) are interspersed. The division of beads shows no regular pattern. Ten little white glass-like beads are strung on as an appendage. One large brown wooden bead is at the knot.

A small rectangular tightly woven bag made from a single piece of material. Machine stitched across the bottom and up one side. Open edge is selvedged. Main design is consisting of alternating red and yellow wefts about every inch on a black background. Top three bands of three are in red, then consistently two rows of yellow and three rows of red, except for a repeat of two rows of red in the centre.
