LoomE183 a-c

A loom (part a-c) with an unfinished woven textile consisting of pink, green, yellow, orange and blue stripes of geometric patterns on a purple ground. The textile is attached at the top and bottom to cylindrical shaped wooden sticks (part a). Intertwine in the multi-coloured warp is a cylindrical shaped heddle covered in purple twine; two cylindrical wooden tools and two flat, rectangular battens with triangular, pointed ends (parts b and c).

Reverse appliqué cotton blouse panel or mola that is precise and finely stitched. The design consists of a large, central fish with white eyes and mouth; purple, blue, pink green and yellow u-shaped gills and orange, red, purple, green, blue and pink long fins. There is a small fish behind the large one as well as in the top and bottom corners of the panel. The smaller fish are outlined in orange with yellow, green, black, pink and purple detailing. The ground is red with orange, green, blue, pink, yellow and purple stripes. The panel has a red fabric backing. The edges are raw.

The design consists of a large, central, circular red spaceship (Buck Rogers) detailed with red, green, blue, yellow, orange and pink circles and seven red ovals along the back outer edge. In the middle is a figure seated at a console. Along the outer edge of the panel are seven red stars along with a smaller green and red rocket ship. The ground is black with red, orange, green, blue, pink, yellow and purple stripes. The panel has a red fabric backing. The edges are raw.

Brown birch bark basket with an oval-shaped top and a square bottom. Bark is bent and laced into place with birch twine around the rim overcast with birch root and beaded with black wire-like material; rim also has four open space filled with black cloth. Geometric and linear patterns are scratched onto the exterior sides, revealing a lighter shade of bark.

The woven textile is long, narrow and dark blue. The pattern of joined squares is stitched on in red fibre, visible on both the front and back of the textile. Sewn along one edge there are the remains of a yellow textile, possibly as a fringe.
