The item search helps you look through the thousands of items on the RRN and find exactly what you’re after. We’ve split the search into two parts, Results, and Search Filters. You’re in the results section right now. You can still perform “Quick searches” from the menu bar, but if you’re new to the RRN, click the Search tab above and use the exploratory search.

Painted and carved salmon headdress. Headdress is triangle in shape. Thin white lines curl around cheeks. A second set forms a V over forehead with a solid black band running down the rest of the forehead to the mouth. Shallow carvings around eyes form a long white oval. Eyes are formed from a solid black circle outlined with a wide black ring and a thin red ring in the centre of each oval. Mouth is a long red rectangle with two carved white lines. At each side is a white patch with three grey lines. Remainder of headdress is painted grey. Smooth black cloth and rough cotton strips hang down back of mask. Plastic headgear attached to interior.
Headdress in the style of a bearclaw headdress, except the "claws" are each carved from sheep horn. Two thick leather strips are stitched together at the ends to form a circular forehead strap. Attached to the strap are 24 long, curved "claws" sewn on at their proximal ends. Each is attached by a nail to a small square of horn. Their distal ends are blunted, and a small hole has been bored through each tip for cotton string to pass through. The string connects the horn claws to each other and to two large feather pieces (lower shafts), as well as to short leather thongs. Thin pieces of sinew are wrapped around the string. A piece of cotton is tied to each side, dropping down under the headdress where they are tied together.

Scales consist of a metal rod (part a) and two metal pans (parts b and c). Rod has a metal hook attached to one end from which a pan would suspend. Tied to one pan (part b) are three strands of cotton fibre that suspends the pan from the rod hook. Pans have incised circle design with dot in the centre on concave and convex sides and a border of incised lines.
