Flat rawhide bag (or hanging?) decorated with two areas of beaded floral design in pink, red, blue, green and white. A rectangular-shaped piece of purple fabric with pink flowers and yellow leaves is stitched to the back and to one inner side of the pouch. A string of gold beads is decoratively stitched along the edges, forming tassels at each of the bottom corners, and brown fabric tabs are attached to each of the top corners.
Small, flat, rounded beadwork bag with opening along the top bead-frilled edge. Beadwork covers front and back fabric discs that are lined on the inside with striped blue and beige fabric. One pattern is pink and purple triangular shapes between orange and green crosses with a white ground, the other is orange, green and blue square shapes with a yellow ground.
Pair of beaded, slipper style moccasins with striped design in yellow, red and blue on a white background. A strip of brown fabric backs the beads and is sewn together on one side to the skin sole. Black fabric lines the interior sides and folds out over the rim to form a black border that is outlined with white beads.
Pair of moccasins with beaded mountain design in green, yellow and red on a white background. Beads are sewn onto a backing of brown fabric that is sewn together at the heel and then sewn onto a leather sole (one is made of a few pieces). Also sewn on are long skin fringes at the heel, a tongue with forked end, and a cuff border of dark brown fabric. Short skin strips lace through one hole.
Pair of large, reddish-brown tanned hide moccasins (a-b) with tall cuffs and long laces knotted together. The only decoration is the white triple stitching of the seam joining top to sides. Additional piece of skin is added to lengthen the tongue.
Flat, square-shaped, light-coloured woven basket or bag with attached long grass fibre tassels. Made of a panel of basketry, folded in half and sewn along the opposite and bottom edges, it has long braided straps that are the continuation of several of the vertical strands at both top corners; the other vertical strands end in tiny knots that form a fringe along the top rim. Long strands of dark brown are interwoven to create two thick horizontal bands with a light design of opposing chevrons.
Reverse appliqué cotton blouse panel or mola that is precise and finely stitched. The design consists of a large central manta ray with two smaller mantas on either side. All of the mantas have white eyes, are detailed with black rectangular-like shapes; they are green outlined in orange with yellow, pink, purple, green, blue and white detailing. The ground is black with black, orange, green, blue and purple stripes. One side is edged with a thick orange fabric border while the opposite side has black. The panel has a red fabric backing. Two edges are raw.
Multi-media installation. The doll (a) consists of a wooden artist’s maquette body with brain-tanned deer hide head (no facial features), hand coverings, and dress (with fringes at sleeves and decorated with English and Cree text written in pink gel-pen ink), pink and yellow cut-glass seed beads sewn onto dress and moccasin boots, horse hair braids with white satin ribbon, ncecklace of porcupine quill, brass bead and sinew, clam shell earrings, and a belt with large brass buttons. The doll sits in a chair (part b) constructed of deer hide, wood, and sinew, and face a small LCD screen, which fastens to a wooden base (part c), and plays a video loop, with video and audio footage created by the artist.
Dark red robe that is worn with a belt (Edz3797 b). It has a rounded neck, slender cuffed sleeves and side opening with metal snap fasteners. There are long slits in the sides and back. The border around the neck, side opening and cuffs has large, partial flowers in black and white on a turquoise ground. The wide border above the bottom hem has three bands on a turquoise ground; one with a large floral motif in black and white and two of a meander motif in white. The inside lining is white cotton.
Corpus Christi headdress consisting of a grass string bound wood frame over which is stretched a screen made of canvas sacking and a sheet of gold foil. Sewn onto the foil are several shells, strands of beads (glass, plastic and possibly gemstone), earrings, pins, bone hair clips, metal tokens, and coins. A large shell is attached at the top of the headdress.
