Cantonese Opera Cape1743/1 f

Long, lined cape that is part of a Cantonese opera costume with 1743/1 a,b,c,d,e,g. Cape is gathered at neck and has a large round collar. Front is open and slightly rounded at bottom. There are ties at the neckline. A long slit goes from centre lower back to hem. Scattered sequin design.

Lenten Costume2743/8 a-b

Two piece costume consisting of a heavy wool hooded coat (a) and pants (b). Bands of diamond and linear designs woven in red, yellow, brown, beige, white, orange, and black wools create a striped pattern that is embellished with bands of green and red wool fringes. The coat opens at the front and closes with three brown plastic buttons. Wool leggings have been sewn onto cropped green polyester/viscose trousers with button-up fly.

Shark Headdress2736/7

Realistic representation of shark head is painted bluish gray with carved black eyes and red gill lines. Worn with nose pointing upwards, the beard and the mouth, made up of part of the jaw and teeth of a shark set above a row of squared white wood teeth, are therefore facing forward. The headdress has long strands of grass fibres hanging from the sides and a foam lining around the interior rim. The jaw is held in with nails and two strands of woven synthetic rope are knotted and pulled through holes in the wood.
