Two tiered, pleated xibelani skirt. Skirt ties at the back with the ends of an unbleached cotton strand that spans the waist of the skirt. Both tiers have the same colours and patterns. The front of the skirt is red with repeating groups of black, white, green, red and dark purple vertical stripes. The rest of the skirt is black with repeating groups of green, red, black, light blue and white vertical stripes. The bottom of the top tier has a silk-like ribbon running along the edge and has two strands of white beads underneath it. Towards the bottom edge of the bottom tier another silk-like ribbon runs horizontally around the skirt. Below the ribbon, between the groups of stripes on both the red and black portions, are dots made up of white beads. Both tiers are hemmed with black thread.
Batik sarong with a floral and peacock pattern over a pattern of diamond and concentric square pattern. A section of diagonal bands with floral designs alternating between bands of solid green and thin vertical red and white stripe pattern. Composed of one piece of fabric stitched together at the ends. Maker's name is at the edge of the design (Tan Ping Thian?). Smudged stamp applied on both sides, in dark ink.
Geringsing cloth with double ikat technique. Uncut fringe, so textile forms a loop. Central design features repeating large four-point stars, within semicircular patterns. Several rows of a grass-like fibre are woven into each end. Long edge bordered by solid light brown, and a thinner strip of solid black. 'SANTRA' is written down one edge.
Three piece dress, consisting of a top (part a), skirt (part b) and large shoulder cloth (part c). All pieces are bright yellow with repeating groups of red, dark blue, black, yellow and light green stripes. The top has a scoop neckline that then plunges down in an oval-shape. There are two large rectangular pockets on both sides near the bottom edge. The neckline, sleeve edges, pocket openings and the hem all have scalloped borders embroidered in black thread. There are small slits on both sides at the bottom. The skirt is a rectangular piece of fabric; the right, left and top edges have a white-dotted yellow and dark blue border. The bottom edge only has a white-dotted dark blue border. Below the top border there is the repeating group of stripes running horizontally, a plain yellow band, and then a strip of white-dotted yellow cloth, bordered with white-dotted dark blue bands. Below that there are seven vertical rows of the repeating grouped stripes. Over the grouped stripes, in the bottom third of the skirt, a pattern is embroidered in black and white thread. The top edge is plain yellow fabric. The large shoulder cloth is a rectangular piece of fabric folded in half with nine white-dotted dark blue ties along the top edge on the left side. From the front, the top and left sides have a white-dotted yellow and dark blue border. The bottom edge only has a white-dotted dark blue border. Below the top border there is the repeating group of stripes running horizontally, a plain yellow band, and then a strip of white-dotted yellow and dark blue cloth. Running through this top portion are nine white-dotted dark blue strands, directly below the ties. There are another seven identical strands overtop of the repeating striped group and yellow band on the right edge of the front of the shoulder cloth. Below that section are three and a half vertical rows of the repeating grouped stripes. Overtop of the stripes, in the bottom third of the shoulder cloth, a pattern is embroidered in black and white thread.
Women’s dark blue jacket with small side slits and side opening with three pink frog closures. Top closure has an embossed metal button with a blue painted centre. Part of jacket covered by side opening has a small rectangular pocket. Pink frog closure at collar and another to the left of the neck opening. Dark blue portions of jacket have various plants and Chinese characters embroidered in a lighter blue thread. Sleeves are edged with three black bands that are bordered with thin white, light green and pink stripes. Next to the bands, pink and blue flowers are embroidered on a black strip of fabric. Bordering the black strips are light blue bands with white flowers embroidered on them. Around the neck opening the same pattern of bands span the entire collar. The bands are wider at the front, reaching towards the chest, and thinner on the back, reaching just below the neck. To the right of the side opening, on the chest, a pink spiral-like creature is embroidered. The plain black chest bands end to the right of it, while the bands with flower embroidery continue underneath it. The bottom of the jacket has a plain black band border. The band has a thin pink stripe at the bottom and white and light green stripes at the top. Above that band there is a thin black line. In the corners of the jacket, where the sides meet the bottom hem, the thin black line is woven into three linked loops. The interior of the jacket has a light blue cotton lining.
A three-dimensional male humanoid figure puppet. Has a large head and jointed arms attached to controlling rods. The red face is positioned straight forward and has bulging eyes with red irises, a large nose, facial hair (moustache, beard, sideburns), and details painted in black. Prominent white upper teeth with fangs extending from the top and the bottom row at each side. Wearing a Gelung supit urang headdress with diadem (jamang), sumping, Garuda Mungkur (short-tongued), and much hair from below headdress. The headdress is black, gold, red, blue, and white. Wide shoulders, a slim waist, and arms with ornaments at the wrist, and bicep in red. Skin is painted gold. Hands are held flat and bending back at the wrist. Braided hemp bandolier of green, yellow, and pink. Pink waistband and green wrapping suspended on both sides. Black velvet pentagon below waist (apron ?) with sequins, brocade, and a orange, and brown batik skirt.
Cylindrical, twilled basket (part a) woven in a diagonal pattern with folded strips of grass. Has a string tied twice around the outside near top. Wadded up dark brown-green and black cloth (part b) is inside at the bottom. There is also a coil (part c) of plant fibre, possibly rattan?
Three-dimensional male humanoid puppet: large head (part b) fits into body with skirt (part a), and a control rod (part d) with a long shaft that passes through the body and fits into the neck of the figure's head. The control rod (part c) from the figure's right arm has become detached. The body has jointed arms, each with a long controlling rod attached. Pale orange face, gold neck. Small black moustache, almond-shaped narrow eyes, narrow painted mouth. Headdress includes gelung supit urang, sumping, gold jamang, and Garuda Mungkur. Headdress black with gold, red, turquoise trim. Green and red painted necklace. Turquoise and red bracelets on upper arms and wrists. Hands at right angles to arms. Arms in two pieces attached with string at elbows and shoulders. String through palms to which sticks are attached. Wearing gold cross-over bodice, black apron with red fringe, silver and gold trim. Long gold belt hanging loose. Dark red cotton skirt. Head moves through 360 degrees.
