Shirt casing and yellow sleeve with sequined designs. The shirt casing has a round neck with metal snap closures down the centre back. One half is made of white cotton with an armhole. One half is made with yellow synthetic fabric and continues into the sleeve. The sleeve is long and wide, with a white extension. The sequined design has five-toed dragon, pearl, fire, mountain, wave, coral and cloud motifs in gold, red, blue and white sequins. The inside is lined with yellow synthetic fabric.
Short white panel with sequined designs. The panel has white cotton fabric along the top edge that extends to become ties. The sides taper outwards slightly to the straight bottom edge. On the front are sequined designs; a silver geometric border with a yellow and gold edge, interspersed with floral motifs in pink, blue and green. There are two long narrow panels attached to the upper back, with the same silver geometric border, gold edge and interspersed floral motifs. The back is lined with white fabric.
White belt with sequined designs. The belt is wide and rectangular with no fasteners. The design has floral motifs in pink, blue and green sequins. The edges are lined with yellow and gold sequins and a silver sequined geometric pattern. The inside is stiffened with cardboard and lined with white cotton.
Long, white panel with sequined designs and yellow tassel. The panel has a straight top edge with white ties knotted at the sides. The sides taper inwards to a rounded bottom edge with a yellow tassel in the centre. On the front is a sequined designs border of a silver sequined geometric pattern with a yellow and gold edge, interspersed with floral motifs in pink, blue and green sequins. The back is lined with white fabric.
A fine rectangular linen sampler showing variations of the technique of weaving with needle and thread. A centre medallion, worked in cross stitch embroidery, contains the date of 1767 and several sets of initials from the top right clockwise: CL, S, CS, CS, LS with B, and EK in the middle. The medallion is framed with bands of plain weaving stitch in red-brown thread. Ten rectangular sample blocks of different weaving patterns surround the medallion. The patterns include plain weave, twill weave, diamond pattern, check pattern, herringbone pattern, chevron pattern, and stripe pattern worked in two colours. One sample is multi-coloured. The samples are reversible. Decorative stitchery in all four corners. The left edge is a selvage while the other edges are finished with a rolled hem.
Ankle-high reindeer fur boots with up-turned toes and multicoloured laces, made of white fur with brown fur soles. The foot opening is edged with brown skin. The six loops on each tongue are also made with brown skin. Criss-crossed through the tongue loops is a long multicoloured string. The string is made up of red, yellow-green and blue strands. On the ends there are square tassels in red, yellow and green.
Woman’s reindeer fur tunic. The tunic has a standing collar, v-neck opening and long sleeves. The tunic hangs straight from the shoulders in front and is semi-fitted across the back, flared below the waist by means of triangular gores. There is a pocket slit in the left front lined with a red checked fabric. The collar is trimmed with multicoloured ribbon, rickrack and red wool fabric. There are red and yellow wool strips inserted into shoulder, sleeve and back seams for decoration and stability. The sleeve ends are trimmed with red wool fabric strips. The hem is unfinished.
Woman's hat. Hat with ear flaps made of reindeer fur and lined with shearling lamb. Trimmed with a band of red wool fabric and rickrack in the front. Decorative tabs of yellow, green and red fabric inserted into crown seams. Ties of narrow (1.5 cm) woven red, yellow and blue wool braid, finished with wool fabric tabs.
Man's brown leather belt, trimmed with white painted grommets and brown metal studs; fastened with a narrow leather strip and metal buckle. Two leather loops on bottom edge for attaching tools. Two tools attached: a knife (18.3 cm) with metal blade, wood and bone handle, leather and bone sheath; ovoid leather pouch (approximately 33 cm long), trimmed with yellow and red wool fabric, yellow and green rickrack and light yellow-brown reindeer fur. Small square of plastic tape (reflective tape?) glued on at centre back; evidence that two other squares of tape had been attached but have fallen off.
Pattern for making bobbin lace, consists of a strip of parchment which is perforated with pin holes and marked with pencil in a 'fan' lace design. Tabs made of medium blue linen or cotton textile are attached at each end. The initials of the pattern-maker, written in ink, are located at one end. Wrapped as a bundle in a piece of blue tissue paper, secured with a steel straight pin. A descriptive label, hand-written in ink on a scrap of white paper, accompanies the item but is not attached to it.
