Long pole handle attached to eliptical-shaped net, tied in two places with twine and thong. Net suspended in middle by six bone rings and nine twine bindings at top. Net attached to pole by string and thong to end of pole. Double reinforced at end of net.
Oolichan net; 7 metre long fishing net, made from twisted commercial cotton cords. Knotted strands throughout form diamond-shaped openings. The mouth has a thick cotton rope looped through all the cord ends; the opening is 4.2 meters wide lying flat (doubled); the rope extends by an extra 64 cm loop beyond the netting at one side, and 67 cm at the other side. The net gradually narrows along its length, and changes over the last section to a thinner knotted cotton fibre, with smaller diamond-shaped openings. The last section extends for 2.6 metres and has been attached to the larger section with a thin black twisted fibre cord. The narrow end is open, and is approximately 50 cm wide. The net has been repaired using black or green twisted cotton cordage in several small areas.
A loom (part a-c) with an unfinished woven belt. The design consists of stripes of brown with cutout figures on a red, white, green, brown, pink, fuchsia and purple striped ground. The textile is attached at the top to a large rectangular shaped wooden piece with rectangular notches on either end; attached to the block is rectangular woven back strap. The bottom warp are looped onto a fibre rope. Intertwine in the multi-coloured warp are ten cylindrical shaped heddles of varying size. Separate to the loom is a rectangular shaped beater with angled ends (part b) and a cylindrical shaped pick with tapered ends (part c).
