Drum3559/17 a-f

Small goblet-shaped drum (part a) with animal skin stretched over the top. Skin is secured with five removable pegs (parts b-f) and fibre cords. Bottom edge of skin is trimmed with braided cotton(?); loops knotted throughout trim. Two braided plant fibre bands wrap around body and are strung through loops; pegs fit in between cotton and plant fibre. Thick braided cord attached to bands at top and a plain piece of plant fibre tied around base; used as a carrying strap. Long neck in between head and base of drum; protruding lips where sections meet neck.

Band3559/60

Black rectangular band with a red trim on all edges; alternating pink and blue square patches along length. Pink squares have geometric motifs, consisting of zigzags, plain lines and connected triangles forming squares. Blue squares have a central curvilinear design, consisting of swirls and a Greek key-like pattern in the corners; negative space filled with connected triangles. Top and bottom sections of band are bordered with coloured silk rows; done in bright blue, dark pink, and blue-grey.

Sarong3559/72

Dark purple silk sarong with stiff silver band along bottom edge. Thin patterned columns across main body of sarong, consisting of alternating lines and dots. Silver border along bottom alternates between rows of plain cloth and one with a grid-like design. Waistband is cotton and made up of two bands; first is plain light purple, second has multicoloured vertical stripes along length.

Skirt Textile3559/58

Long rectangular piece of pleated indigo-dyed skirt fabric with an unfinished upper edge. Wide pink woven panel decorates bottom edge of skirt; painted decorations and applique across upper indigo section. Painted decorations consist of concentric diamonds, dotted lines, and squares with diagonal bands. Applique are multicoloured triangles and diamonds; triangles form star-like shapes and others are integrated into the painted square designs, diamonds in straight rows. Pink stripes throughout applique and painted patterns. Woven panel is trimmed with red and pink embroidery and has a wide white border with diamonds along top and bottom edges. Central row of white sun-like shapes across panel; large "X"'s, made up of smaller "X"'s, mixed throughout sun-like shapes. White squares, with pink diamonds, are in between the gaps in the larger "X"'s. Bottom edge of skirt is trimmed with white and pink stripes.

Belt3559/62

Thin black belt trimmed with red; ties on either side. Entire front is decorated with rows of seed beads, metal discs and plastic buttons. Rows alternate between off-white seeds, silver discs, seeds, white buttons and seeds.

Black collar with four rounded triangles extending from the bottom edge; two ties on either side. Entire front is decorated with alternating rows of seed beads and metal discs; additional seeds border all sides. Rectangular indigo cloth with opium poppy motif. Poppy motifs consist of four poppies in an "X" shape, with the stems connected at the centre, inside two squares that cover length of cloth. Squares are made up of wide bands filled with smaller squares and plain lines; three diagonal lines through each small square with alternating direction lines. Back of cloth is undecorated.

Long tie with an alternating square pattern along length; squares alternate between pink and maroon with a cross design in centre. Cross alternates between dark yellow with purple trim and white with olive green trim. Squares are divided by "I"-shaped borders that alternate between black with dark yellow tips and dark yellow with olive green tips.

Pink woven bag with braided strap and decorated with multicoloured bobbles of yarn. Bag body is circular and has horizontal bands across surface; stripes are yellow, blue, white, and green, with other colours interspersed throughout. Braided band along bag opening, with long pieces of bobble fringe extending from it. Bag strap is knotted in the centre, with bobble fringe around knot; strap done in green, white, purple, black, and red, with other colours interspersed throughout.
