Ceremonial Cloth2787/32 a-b

Patola ceremonial cloth of silk, dyed blue, red and cream with an ikat warp and weft resist technique. The geometric jewel motif (ratan chok bhat), runs down the centre of the cloth and there is a border of stripes on either side, one of which has been machine-sewn on. The long edges are machine-hemmed and the ends have been cut. A smaller piece (b) has been machine-hemmed on all sides.

Cape2790/8

Long beadwork panel worn down the back like a cape. Letter-like motifs of blue, green, pink, black and yellow beads are spaced horizontally on either side of a stylized house design in the centre of the white beaded background. Each short end is trimmed with a string of coloured beads, one long edge (top of letters) seems unfinished and uneven, and the other has a border of white and blue crochet-like beading dotted with single blue beads.

Apron2790/6

Canvas apron with beadwork decoration in blue, white, pink, green, yellow and black. A backing of plain canvas, beaded to the front piece at the sides and with the top edge left open to insert a square of brown cardboard for stiffening support, has large stitches of brown and green thread across the top edge. Canvas is rolled and stitched at the top edge to create a waist band.

Beaded Bracelet2790/18

Heavy ring-shaped bracelet made of coiled rope or grass fibres around which are tightly wound, on a slight diagonal, strings of plastic beads in a pattern of solid blue divided by seven bands of alternating black and white. Beads are imbedded in a layer of reddish clay.

Apron2790/7

Beaded hide apron with straight top and five scalloped panels hanging along the bottom. A blackened flap of skin at the waist is folded over a stiffer tie (skin or fibre?), stitched and coiled with multicoloured beads, and edged with a row of brass rings above which is stitched a band of white beadwork. A blue bead trim runs around the edge of the thick horizontal and vertical bands of beads that form a white ground with a green, pink, blue. black, orange, purple and yellow house design in the centre and coloured motifs in each of the panels.

Cow Dance Figure2803/1

Cow-shaped wooden carving with a solid wooden base between the four feet. The cow hasa pair of carved water birds on its back, painted white, and green glass eyes. There are two (goat?) horns attached to its head. Foam has been nailed around the wooden base and a thick cotton rope is looped between the legs to form straps for wearing it. The carving is painted black and has white markings and words painted over it, with spashes of bright blue paint. '2007' is painted on the back right leg; 'No1' is painted below each eye.
