Cummerbund (part a) and chest covering (part b), both with multicoloured and copper ikat and lamak weaving geometric designs on black fabric. The cummerbund has a fringe at the bottom. The chest covering has a fringe at the top with a white plastic button at each top corner.

Lace Doily1714/6

A hand made circular lace doily. The main concentric abstract design is consisting of a two groups of flowers of an identical design near the outer edge and facing each other at two opposite sides. The other sides are filled with two identical groups of flowers that go all the way to the outer edge of the doily. These two outer designs are linked on the periphery of the doily by a narrower leaf and flowers design.

Cantonese Opera ShoesN1.756 a-c

Pair of shoes and one tie. Leather sole, raised wooden heel (2" h.) painted green. Uppers: metallic thread and twisted cord braid appliqued 4 1/2" either side of toe, 1 1/4" deep, enclosing woven raffia applique. Colours: deep pink, gold, and black. Braid appliqued around top of uppers, and twisted and appliqued down centre of toe. Colours: pale green and beige. At heel: black cotton extension, appliqued 4 3/4" above uppers 4 3/4" w. All on black ground. Black cotton loop on either side, attached to uppers where extension joins. Cotton lining. Padded cotton insole. Separate red tie (part c). (Other tie is missing.)

Cantonese Opera HatN1.773

The folded hat is black and square with a triangular top piece. The hat folds inwards on both sides. On the front is a large orange, blue, red and purple peony with green leaves and brown curved lines. The same design is duplicated on the triangular piece with the addition of two red peonies and a yellow border. These upper and lower designs are repeated in the folded side panels. On the back there is only the upper design. On the inside of the hat is ecru lining, stiffened with cardboard. Two ecru ties are attached.

Cantonese Opera HatN1.769

The folded hat is green and rectangular, decorated with appliqué, metal-mirrored discs and two long streamers. The hat flares to a point at the top, narrows at the base and folds inwards on both sides. On the front is a large appliqué yin yang design with a scalloped edge in silver and pink thread. Around the yin yang are appliqué leaf motifs in silver thread. The silver leaf motif continues on the inside folds and on the back of the hat. Covering the entire surface of the hat are metal discs with mirrored centres. Along the bottom is a silver border with brass discs, edged with purple with traces of gold. Attached to the back inside edge are two long green streamers. On the inside of the hat is ecru lining, stiffened with cardboard. Two ecru ties are attached.

Sarong made of two pieces of fabric sewn together to form a tube. Bands of woven geometric patterns, mostly in red, grey and off-white, are separated by red and yellow lines, and there are three bands of rectangular designs on black separated near the ends.
