Rod PuppetIb315

Three-dimensional male humanoid puppet: large head (part c) fits into gold painted body with skirt (part a), and a control rod (part d) with a long shaft passes through the body and fits into the neck of the figure's head. The body has jointed arms, each with a long controlling rod attached, and the figure's right arm (part b) has become detached. The figure has a dark pink face, a blunt nose; white eyes have dark red pupils. White protruding upper teeth with fang at each corner of mouth; black hairy moustache, painted beard. Headdress consists of black cap, blue-striped scarf around forehead, gold triangular sumping (ear ornament) behind ear and grey Garuda (mythical bird) above grey fringe of curls. Torso painted gold and covered with black velvet cloth. A black velvet apron is sewn to the waist with red glass beads in sun ray design and a band of woven gold thread and ribbon at waist. The figure is wearing a beige cotton with brown geometric batik design. Red and white carved bracelets at upper arms and wrists; hands upturned.

Ankle-high reindeer fur boots with up-turned toes and multicoloured ties. Uppers and soles are made of brown fur, with red woolen trim around the toe and sides. Around each foot opening is a brown skin casing with a black, red and white braided tie. On the ends of the ties are large black, red and white tassels.

Men's reindeer fur leggings (part a-b) with multicoloured bands and tassels. The leggings are trimmed at the top and bottom with bands of red wool with yellow striping and blue rickrack. Above the upper red band is a skin casing with a twisted orange and yellow tie finished with large tassels. Below the lower red band is a large piece of blue fabric at the bottom that tucks into shoes.

Three-dimensional male humanoid puppet (jester character): head with pointed cap (part b) fits into body with tunic and pants (part a). The body has jointed arms and legs. The face is painted light brown, and the arms and legs are painted dark orange-pink. The cap is made of orange, pink, red, blue and black floral print fabric, and the tunic and pants are made from green, red, and off-white patterned material with a grid and flower motif. The figure's shoes are painted black.

Ankle-high, off-white and brown reindeer fur boots with pointed, upturned toes. Top edges trimmed with a 6.8 cm band of red and green wool fabric, which is appliqued with multi-coloured emboidered ribbon and rickrack. Front opening bound with leather, punched, laced with twisted red, blue and yellow wool yarn. Laces trimmed with red, blue and yellow tassels.

Male puppet figure: detachable head (part b) has a rod that extends down from the neck and fits into a socket in the top of the torso of the body (part a). The figure is wearing a green and off-white floral print shirt, an off-white fabric skirt, and off-white pants underneath the skirt with horizontal green, grey and pink lines. The figure's legs have been wrapped in newspaper (horse racing results ?), and the figure has been blindfolded with a strip of green, blue, red and off-white fabric.

Men's dark blue wool tunic. The tunic has high standing collar and centre front opening with hook and eye closure, edged with green wool. The tunic hangs straight from the shoulders in front, back is slightly fitted above waist and is flared below the waist by means of triangular gores. There are multicoloured bands (red predominating) of wool textile, embroidered ribbons and rickrack at collar, shoulders, neck opening, upper back, cuffs and bottom hem. There is a concealed inner pocket on the chest, accessible through the centre front opening. The inside is unlined.
