Feather Cape1788/1

Kiwi feather cape. Brown and albino feathers mounted on a fibre base. The upper edge has a braided edge ending with a fringe. One end has one tie and the other has two ties.

Ikat Textile1786/3

Long, rectangular, woven textile with bands of alternating colours which repeat regularly. There is a red and orange short thread fringe on both end and a cotton label is machine sewn at one end. The label reads: ‘Quiche, 100% wool, made in Guatemala’. Some bands of colour have a metallic-like gold thread woven into them. The textile is pink, red, orange, yellow, green, black, blue and purple.

Moose hair tufting in a floral design, on black velvet. Rectangular light-grey mat with oval centre cut-out that frames an arrangement of flowers, leaves and stems. Velvet is stapled onto a layer of matboard and foam core.

Kimono2504/1

Black summer kimono (着物) made of hand woven kasuri (絣) or ikat textile made from ramie fibre. Cotton fabric interfacing on the shoulder area woven in plain weave. Kimono assembled with hand-stitching throughout. The pattern is linear squares and circles arranged in a checkered design. There is a wide patterned band around the neck and partway down the centre opening. The sleeve panels are short with an opening under the arm. The inside is unlined.

Lace Doily1712/32

A hand made oval lace doily. The main abstract design is consisting of a central plain machine made cloth with the hand made surrounding outer edge consisting of a band with a row of holes, surrounded by a zig zag band containing a six-petallled flower at each of the two ends of the oval, surrounded by four sections of a band, each containing a four-petalled flower with a leaf stretching sideways at either side. Between this four-sectioned band, there are four six-petalled flowers. An airy design of zig zag, squares, and triangles forms an outer edge of eight elongated oval scallops each containing an uneven solid shape.

The main concentric abstract design is consisting of a central six-petalled flower design, surrounded by a band of two rows of holes, surrounded by an airy design of square-like shapes that has six bug-like shapes with six four-petalled flowers within, surrounded by a band of two rows of holes, surrounded by an airy design that has eight inward facing butterflies with eight thin four-petalled flowers in between the butterflies within, surrounded by a scalloped outer perimeter edge of twenty-four petals.
