Lace Doily1712/23

A hand made square lace doily. The main design is consisting of alternating squares of two different types of designs with three squares to each side, totalling nine squares. One square design is consisting of machine made cloth that has an embroidered spiral design while the other square design is consisting of open hand made lace work. Bordered edge is made of hand made lace that has arch-like shapes.

The main concentric abstract design is consisting of a central eight-petalled flower motif, surrounded by a narrow band, surrounded by four inward facing butterflies, surrounded by an airy design, surrounded by an outer scalloped edge that has twelve scallops that look like petals. Raised design as dots on butterflies.

Necklace1724/1

Beaded choker-style necklace primarily consisting of white, opalescent beads. Beadwork design forms a half circle. Attached to each end are cotton cords. Beads are strung onto yellow string. Inner edge of beadwork consists of tight, parallel rows, four beads deep. From there, rows of beads form an intersecting pattern with loops along exterior edge.

Cuff1723/2 b

Rectangular embroidered silk cuff. The cuff is made of pink, blue and black bands sewn together. The outside pink band has a small pleated opening. The blue band is without design. The inside black band is embroidered with large green flowers and leaves as well as two purple butterflies(?). One butterfly is on the underside of the cuff. Green stitching is present along the edge of the black band.

Switch Prop1704/2

Cantonese Opera prop. Stem switch is two pieces of stem bent in half and bound with a strip of stem material. A small piece of string also binds two of the stems at the bound handle. There is a loop of cotton fibre that has been knotted. The loose ends are split and frayed. One of the frayed ends has been completely severed from the bottom of the bound handle. Another has been partially severed from the bottom of the bound handle.
