Adire (indigo dyed) cloth. Yellow and light blue, hatched and crosshatched, geometric and floral patterns on indigo and black. Overall checkered pattern, composed of two pieces of cloth sewn together at the centre. The underside is solid indigo and black in a checkerboard pattern.

Adire Cloth1774/9

Adire cloth composed of two pieces of indigo resist-dyed cloth stitched along the centre. The surface is divided by two wide bands of stripes running parallel to the edge and bisected by two wide bands of white stripes running perpendicular to form rectangular spaces filled in with with light blue to white lines forming crosshatched patterns and alternating blue and light blue to white stripes. Rows of stitch holes are visible on the pattern lines. The ends perpendicular to the centre seam are unfinished.

Adire Cloth1774/7

Adire (indigo dyed) cloth. Composed of two panels, each made from squares with resist-dyed indigo designs. The designs are composed mainly of light blue bands composed of short lines and small circles with a band of small circles at two opposing edges. Small bits of palm leaf raffia are still found stitched along the pattern lines.

Blue patterned hanten (袢纏, also written as 半天, 袢天, 半纏) with dark blue patchwork. The pattern consists of dark blue dots in horizontal rows. There are dark blue patches on the upper back, shoulders, sleeves and the bottom of the centre opening. There is a small blue square on the left lower front, above the hem. There is a wide dark blue band around the neck and down the centre opening. The short sleeves are tapered. The inside is unlined.

Rag Rug1768/56

Rag rug with oval shape woven from multicoloured cotton and wool rag strips with primarily grey and red wool at the centre bordered by a row of purple silk(?), a band of off-white cotton with black animal(?) forms, a band of pink, red, dark, red, and grey wool and silk(?), a band of off-white cotton with bird and animal forms in black, and an outer band of black, pink and red. Thin off-white cardboard stitched to back for support.

Headdress1768/55

Headdress of thirteen wooden feathers, metal headband and two sets of fabric ties. Feathers radiate from a central nail attached to headband. End of each feather is decorated. Feathers are joined with string. Curved headband has two side pieces. Ties are knotted.

Beaded BagNe227

Rounded skin beadwork bag with opening along the top edge, 14 cm fringe at bottom. Plain skin around sides and the fringe, beadwork covers front and back. One pattern is of roses with a white ground, the other is geometric with a blue ground. Lined with red and blue plaid. Loop at each side of top.

Small beaded black velvet bag with undecorated top opening and decorative front flaps on either side. Leaf designs on flaps and on bag in yellow, gold, blue, red, white and grey, bordered by short vertical rows of grey and white beads, and white beads along edges. Red cotton binding around outer edge. Light brown cotton binding at top opening and lining.
