Altar ClothSf880

Square shaped white silk cloth with gold appliqué cross along the bottom edge. The cross is elaborated with wheat ears between the arms. There are two spiraled vines with appended leaves below the cross. The design is worked in gold thread, sequins and leaf-shaped metal plates with a red stone in the centre. The design has a red outline. The fabric is backed by another red cotton fabric and edged with a woven gold tape which is machine stitched to the base fabric.

A purple, gold and silver knee-length vestment with open sides. The purple fabric has floral designs woven in floating purple threads and overlain with another series of floral designs woven in gold and silver threads. Applied bands of woven of golden threads edge the garment and divide it into three vertical panels. The garment is lined and interlined with firm fabric which appears to be newer.

Pair of goatskin boots in three main parts. Sole in black, front upper in yellow and back upper and legging in red/brown; trimmed with bands of leather in blue/green. Uppers have horizontal bands of impressed decoration enclosing an applique decoration of concentric circles of cut-out leather on the outer aspect of each leg. The boots are soft soled and show little wear. The right boot has a small patch sewn on the inner leg.

Pair of heelless slippers; the sole consists of three or more layers of rawhide and leather sewn together as a separate unit. The leather insole and lined upper are attached separately. The upper is cut widely towards a slightly pointed toe. The upper is ornamented in an impressed or tooled design of straight lines, dots and circles forming a set of triangles pointing towards the toe.

A mask made of sheet metal with humanoid features. Has an overall square shape. The mask is convexly shaped in the upper area and has holes in each corner. Two cotton strings are attached through the upper holes. The eyes are almond-shaped and the nose is in high relief. The small, downturned mouth is flanked by diagonal lines defining the cheeks. Metal areas show through a black layer. There are textile impressions on the area around the mouth.

Three-dimensional male humanoid puppet: large head (part b) fits into body with skirt (part a), and a control rod (part c) with a long shaft that passes through the body and fits into the neck of the figure's head. The body has jointed arms, each with a long controlling rod attached. Green face with wedge shaped nose, bulging white eyes with red irises, red lips, exposed white teeth. Black moustache, hair, sideburns, beard, facial details. Black upswept curl headdress (gelung supit urang) with gold, red, and yellow diadem with long sumping and very wide Tali Garuda. Two large badong with red and green dawala extending from Tali. Garuda Mungkur extends high above curl, coloured red with gold siyung jawi. Gold neck and upper torso; each arm has red and green ornaments at wrist and bicep. Hands held flat and bent back at wrist. Black chest covering and apron with brown wavy trim, cross shaped pattern in sequins and beads (red and green). Apron has red waistband, long yellow fringe at bottom. Long batik skirt in beige, brown, and green.

The body has jointed arms, each with a long controlling rod attached. Pink face positioned downwards, with straight nose, red lips, white teeth. Hair, moustache, facial details and eyes outlined in black. Large headdress with gold diadem (jamang), black cap, and backwards facing blue, white and red Garuda Mungkur (long tongue) called sekar kluwih. Very small forward curl in front of Garuda (gelung keling?). Gold sumping, single kendit, green, red, blue decoration overall. Neck, upper body gold; arms with green and red ornaments at bicep and wrist. Black chest covering with wavy brown trim, sequins and beads in cross pattern on both chest covering and apron, which has a red waistband, red wavy trim and a long yellow fringe at bottom. Long batik skirt; beige with light brown, blue, and dark brown; seam at centre front.

The body has jointed arms, each with a long controlling rod attached. Blue face (Bima type) positioned slightly downwards; wedge-shaped nose, bulging white eyes with red irises, closed red lips. Teardrop-shaped red decoration on each cheek. Thick moustache, beard, sideburns, hair in black. Very ornate crown (mahkota) in red with gold diadem, karawista with green trim. Gold sumping in green and red, above black Tali Garuda. Double badong beneath grey Garuda Mungkur (short-tongued) with siyung jawi. Considerable discolouring of head and torso. Neck and upper body dull gold, each arm with black and red (?) ornaments at wrist and bicep. Hands held flat and bent back at wrist. Black chest covering and apron with cross-shaped wrapped wire designs, white wavy trim, sequins. Apron has purple waistband, and worn yellow fringe at bottom. Long batik skirt in yellow, beige and green.

Sled CarvingNa678 a-f

Dog sled carving (part a) with five dogs (parts b-f). Sled made of two long runners across which are tied eight crosspieces with thread pulled through holes on runners. Linen fabric supports a seal covered by a sealskin, all bound to sled by leather strips. Leather harness secures dogs, all with straight legs and dark eyes, to the sled.

Figure representing a person on a flat backing of white paper. Front view is depicted of the figure which is made of cloth lightly padded to give a three-dimensional effect having each portion made of a separate piece of cloth with painted details. Face is made of white silk. Wearing a rounded black hat with round projections at the lower back, an ankle-length robe with full sleeves in black silk gauze over red fabric, and a belt under the arms of paper painted red, yellow, green, and black, over a square panel of the same material, and colours. Boots are made of black paper. Two pieces of white flannel hemmed with light red-pink silk are sewn to the paper backing.
