Cotton turban. Garment is thin and very long, made of light, fine fabric that is dyed in diagonal lines of bright pink-purple interspersed with panels of mottled brown, orange and blue lines. An thick embroidered panel of metallic copper thread has been sewn to one end of the garment, with a much thinner panel at the other end.

Chevrons vary between thick and thin widths. An embroidered panel of metallic gold thread sits at one end of the garment. Edges are finished with a tight roll.

Hat3259/43

Double weave basketry hat. Hat is cone-shaped, made in a small tight weave, undecorated but for two slightly protruding encircling lines placed just below peak and above the rim. Hat’s point is made of four wide strips of bark that are then separated into smaller strands and incorporated into the general weave. A smaller inset cone is found high in the interior, serving as a headband. Its rim is lined with a weave of cotton.

Wall Hanging3234/1

Rectangular woven wall hanging with a mirrored diamond pattern. Dyes used are made of natural materials. Background is off-white, with brown checked squares along the edges coloured with walnut shells. At centre of weaving is a small light tan diamond coloured with onion skin, surrounded by a thick diamond of dark brown made of red stemmed dock with logwood strips, then two strips of light rust-brown of goldenrod and chrome or copper, light yellow-green of goldenrod and alum, and light brown coloured with lichen. At back are two canvas pockets sewn along the long edges as hanging mechanisms.

Woman’s full-length, A-line, colourful robe or coat, with long tapered sleeves; open at centre front from neck to hemline, no closures; made of red, yellow, purple, green and blue warp-ikat textile; silk warp, cotton weft; surface glazed with egg white(?). Gathering at the sides just under the sleeves. 16 cm vertical slits at each side at the hem. Front edges and bottom hem trimmed with 2.3 cm blue, pink and off white tablet-woven braid; sleeve hems trimmed with pink, blue, black and off-white 1.5 cm tablet woven braid. Body is lined with black and off-white checked cotton textile; sleeves lined with orange and off-white cotton textile; edges of the body of the garments are faced on the inside with bias strips of multi-coloured ikat textile (silk warp, cotton weft); sleeves faced with bias strips of brightly coloured floral printed cotton textile.

Man’s full-length, A-line, colourful, red, yellow and off-white ikat tunic or gown, with wide, straight sleeves and straight 36 cm slit at the centre front neck opening. A small stand-up collar has been roughly attached at the centre back. Warp ikat textile, with silk warp, cotton weft. Roughly made and irregularly patched together. Left underarm has been patched with a piece of dark purple cotton textile. Unlined. Hem is faced with strips of green and white plaid cotton textile. A blue stripe on the selvage shows through on some seams.
