Frontlet HeaddressA8226

Headdress with a frontlet with a bear design, painted blue around eyes, red mouth, fore and hind limbs, inlaid with abalone shell pieces. Abalone around bear, and extra row at each side. Headdress has sea lion whiskers at top, and ermine skins around head. Long cape with ermine pelts at back. Red cloth or black fibre, tied to some skins.

The textile is striped in shades of brown and green. The stripes are thick and thin. The thick stripes change colour every two stripes. The thin stripes are a checkered pattern. There are thick strands of white cotton fibre visible on the back. The centre of the textile is extremely frayed, almost separating the textile in two. Two of the outside edges are finished and two are frayed.

Arrow consisting of a long cylindrical wooden shaft with one notched end and a metal point at the other, secured with wrapped sinew. The triangular point has three notches at its base, above the long fore-shaft. The point is set into the wooden shaft and strands of sinew are tightly wrapped around the hafted area. The opposite end of the shaft has red pigment, possibly ochre, on it. Three grey and white feathers are hafted to this end with sinew, covering the ends of the quill. The end of the wooden shaft has a notch in it and sinew is wrapped around it.
