Dance Screen3474/1

Woven cedar bark screen with painted design in a horizontal orientation. Image is of two identical thunderbirds, bodies facing front and heads facing each other. Thunderbirds are outlined in black with formline designs throughout interior. Designs done in black with green and red-orange highlights. Each thunderbird has a curved horn on the back of their head and semi-circular shaped protrusion on top of their head. Thunderbirds have downward pointing wings and legs widely spread outward. Wings and tails have three feathers each and they are filled with dots. Wings have blue-grey dots, tail feathers have green. Main bodies are filled with red-orange dots, surrounding central designs, and head filled with blue-grey dots. Borders around all edges of screen are made of dyed(?) dark green-black strips of bark. The screen is edged with wide strips of bark.

Dress3485/1 a-b

Full length dress with long sleeves and a matching scarf (part b). Dress is made out of printed red and yellow cotton. Designs on red cotton are black teardrop shapes with yellow dotted lines. Designs on yellow are dark brown and light orange floral motifs with dots throughout. Front of dress is predominantly red, with two yellow panels extending from the waist down. Bottom edge is trimmed with yellow fabric, bordered by burgundy ribbons with embroidered geometric motifs. Motifs done in white. Back of dress is predominantly made of the yellow textile with two red panels running down the entire length. Sleeves are red and have yellow cuffs. Cuffs are trimmed with burgundy embroidered ribbons and circular, gold coloured beads. Dress has a square neckline with heavy embroidery around the edges and beneath it, forming a chest piece. Motifs are geometric and floral, with mirrors throughout, done in multiple colours. Beneath chest piece, a burgundy ribbon spans the waist. Burgundy tassels, with white and red beads, hang along the bottom edge. Two panels of sheer black fabric extend from the shoulders to the waist line, framing the chest piece, and hang loosely from there. The panels are trimmed, from the waist down, with burgundy ribbons and circular, gold coloured beads. Tassels hang from the bottom edges. Semi-sheer red undergarment beneath dress. Dress is unlined and has zippered opening along back. Scarf is rectangular and made of sheer yellow fabric. The left and right sides are trimmed with printed red cotton and large burgundy tassels. Tassels are attached to the scarf with strands of black, silver and red beads.

Samoan wrap made of printed cloth. Design in black, white and tan on a red-brown background. The hem is wider than the band along the top edge. There are four large ties along the top edge, and two button holes. Spaced evenly with the button holes are slash pockets, which creates a small fold in the cloth.

Mola blouse. Body of blouse composed of red cotton with multi-coloured mola panels; upper bodice area and the short sleeves are made of undecorated purple velveteen material, with a red cotton border around the neckline. Both front and back are similar in design. On the front is written,'K SNIJBONEN', and SAN BLAS' down the sides of the panel. There is a tie at the neck.

Uniform geometric patterns in grey-blue, light brown and dark purple-red on a red-orange background. Both sides are bordered by vertical stripes of olive green, grey-blue, red-orange and light yellow. There is a strip of fabric sewn across the back of the top of the textile with pin holes in it. The bottom edge has fringe.

Small square folded bag with woven strap, tied at apex with two small braids extending from either strap. Two large dark blue tassels are attached to each lower corner. The edging on three sides is dark blue. The central design is composed of repeating triple diamond pattern in orange, dark blue, and dark red on a green background. Strap is dark blue with a vertical band of orange bordered by blue, and flecks of red; folded in half along length; ends stitched to upper corners of bag.
