Basket made of woven spruce root with two repeating imbricated designs around the exterior - three stepped horizontal lines near the top, and larger spiral designs. The basket is cylindrical in shape, with the base raised slightly (convex) at the centre.

Short jacket. Black cotton garment is open at front with a collar of red and blue stripes. Sleeves are long and made in Hmong style with layered bands of red, yellow and blue applique, interspersed by panels of embroidery and patterned fabric. A collar flap hangs partially down the back, with embroidered tan squares and black circles on a red background.

Coat3080/50

Long coat. Denim cotton garment reaches the lower leg at hem with long slits at each side. It has long sleeves, open at the front, and an embroidered collar in dark brown and tan which is edged with a line of beading and tiny pink pompoms. Edges of bottom hem, side slits, wrists, and front opening are lined in what appears to be red silk? Garment is heavily embroidered on back, from waist to hem, in tan and dark red, bordered by layered bands of red applique. A rectangle of similar embroidery is sewn to the centre back of the coat. Long pink tassels attached to the collar and passing in front of the square have transferred their colour onto it.

Textile is woven of heavy wool on a warp of horse hair(?), half in a wide blue and tan stripe pattern, and half in a series of diamonds filled with coloured patterning in red, dark blue, tan, pink and yellow. Underside shows colours with less fading, and holds the end threads. Fringe appears to be horse hair warp ends.

Collar flap from back of women’s jacket. Front has a top panel of dark brown cotton fibre, under which is sewn a panel decorated in red, dark blue and green step patterning. Around the panels is an edging of faded pink silk. Back of panel is made of cotton fabric with a pink daisy motif including brown foliage and smaller blue-grey flowers. The silk edging shows the original bright pink colour. Panel has been removed from a larger garment and has black thread hanging along the top edge. (Image shows collar upside down).

Collar flap from back of women’s jacket. Backing is dark brown fabric in a tight weave. Around edges is wrapped and sewn an edging of silk, once pink, now faded to tan. At front bottom is a panel in the same colour with heavy embroidery in zigzag and cross designs with two diamonds stitched across centre in green. Back panel is made of brown cotton with silk edging showing some of the original red colour.

Front has a top panel of dark brown synthetic fibre, under which is sewn a panel in light tan, green and black with decoration in crosses, T-shapes, and zigzags. Around the panels is an edging of tan silk. Back of panel is made of dark blue cotton fabric with a light blue and tan pattern of flowers and foliage. Interior is lined with a cotton panel in red, also with flowers and foliage.

Cotton tunic style blouse. Light tan garment is rectangular in shape, closed at front but for a V-neck and slit at bottom, both front and back. Arm holes sit at top directly off the shoulder. Pink piping edges sides, neck, and centre line. Small white, pink and green tassels hang from the bottom corners.

Scarf. Garment is made of dark blue cotton with heavy embroidery on each end showing diamond shapes and triangles in colours of white, dark pink, blue, green and tan. Along edges of the embroidered portions are small pompoms in light tan, and a single tassel of red hangs from one corner.
