Textile panel made from two pieces of tan-coloured fabric sewn together down middle, one slightly longer than the other. Heavy embroidery covers the fabric in red, yellow and green, showing groups of red octagons each containing a tan flower-shape surrounded by layered bands of applique borders and along the edges of the fabric. The backside is unlined and shows the stitching remnants from the embroidery and applique.

Cotton bag with print. Bright yellow bag is rectangular with a single handle at top. Patterning is in line drawing form, black and red, showing on one side a goddess at centre standing inside a flower. Chinese lettering surrounds figure on all sides, and dots and squares create a border around her. Other side shows a town scene with Chinese symbols and Latin lettering.

Textile panel made of several pieces of fabric sewn together. Front has backing of brown silk on one side, and brown cotton on the other connected by a layered appliqué panel at centre in stripes of orange, green, and blue. On the silk is sewn a green rectangle holding two orange squares, all with patterned embroidery. On the cotton backing is a large square embroidered like those on the silk, and surrounded by a boarder of layered applique lines in several colours. The square panels all hold some transparent sequence with small beads.

Band, worn around the waist. A light blue rectangular panel with black stripes and backside hangs from the middle of a long band made of blue and bright pink fabric. Blue portion holds vibrant embroidery in Hmong style, showing squares that each hold a stepped pattern in orange, yellow and white.

Baby Carrier3080/30

Embroidered fabric carrier with ties. Panel is rectangular with cutouts at top corners. Embroidered pattern in Hmong style sits in middle of panel and takes the same outer shape. Its patterning divided into squares, each with similar swirl motifs in colours of red, orange, blue and green, with an outer border of layered applique stripes of green, white, pink and blue. Two long ties attached to the top of the carrier, made up of strips of fabric in blue and purple. These are sewn into a tube, released below the midpoint to create long thick tassels.

Baby Carrier3080/26

Baby carrier. Garment resembles an apron with a long skirt at front, thick waistband, and the remnants of ties for wrapping around the waist. Skirt is made of black cotton, edged with thin red and white stripes, and embroidered at waist with inverted triangles decorated in green, red, and yellow. Across front are two large embroidered diamonds with several small star shapes around them. Waistband is blue fabric with many evenly placed broken threads, indicating beading or other former decoration.

Long coat. Long-sleeved, soft cotton garment. Open front, reaching the lower leg at hem, and with long slits at each side. Red piping lines the edges of cuffs, slits, hem and front opening. A narrow panel of embroidery surrounds collar with short pink tassels and multicoloured plastic beads along its inside edge. At back, a group of pink tassels falls from the collar to the shoulders. Garment heavily embroidered on back from waist to hem in tan, blue and pink. A rectangle of pink embroidery decorates the back between the shoulders.

Collar flap from back of women’s jacket. Front has a top panel of dark brown synthetic fibre, under which is sewn a panel decorated in tan, blue, and green step patterning and includes tiny stitching. Around the panels is an edging of faded silk. Back of panel is made of synthetic fabric with pink and purple roses on a green background, with the silk edging showing the original bright pink colour. Flap has been removed from a larger garment and has black thread hanging loose along the top edge.

Textile. Long textile woven of heavy, stiff wool has been folded over and stitched together along two sides to create a large bag that is open at top. Pattern on front is lines of diamond motifs in green, red, pink, orange and grey separated by solid lines of red and brown. On the back are lines in a variety of thicknesses in several shades of brown.
