Cream-coloured matron's blouse with long, stiff-cap sleeves and front opening; secured with six buttons. Entire blouse is decorated with embroidered pink and red flowers, with white detailing throughout. Cuffs, bottom edge, and opening of blouse are trimmed with a wavy line of silver sequins. Bottom edge of main body of blouse is pleated and has light blue scallops along the bottom and top edges of the pleated band. Buttons are plastic; top is three-piece and pink, rest are gold with blue dots and semi-circle decorations. Blouse interior is unlined.

Sleeve3627/1 e

Blouse-like sleeves with front opening, standing collar, and puffed sleeves; no closures along front opening. Garment is gathered at the collar and sleeves, creating ruffles throughout; more tightly gathered on sleeves than collar. Embroidered bands, consisting of floral and geometric designs, at top and bottom of sleeves; done in orange, white and light yellow. Rest of garment is undecorated. Top band has a light yellow background and is trimmed with diamond and checkered borders. Main design is made up of flowers, vertical lines, diamonds, and triangles in a zigzag, with abstract shapes throughout; done in white and orange. Bottom band has repeating flowers inside squares with geometric designs throughout. The top and bottom edges are trimmed with checkered borders; whole band done in white and orange. Sleeves have slits at the cuffs, secured shut with short ties, and are stiffened with folded brown paper along the interior; paper has orange triangular designs across it. Cuffs are trimmed with long pieces of lace-like material; open weave floral designs throughout lace. Garment is unlined.

Skirt3627/1 a

Gathered front skirt with wrap-around waistband; long ties on either side of band. Skirt is red with yellow stripes, trimmed with white ones, throughout; stripe pattern runs horizontally along waistband and vertically across main body. Embroidered flowers underneath and between stripe patterns; done in white with dark purple centres, and green leaves. Waistband is bordered with sequins along bottom and top left edges, and skirt is trimmed with white lace; lace has floral motifs surrounded by circles throughout. Additional lace band towards bottom edge of skirt, with pleats underneath. Waistband lined with cream fabric.

Garment is gathered around collar and sleeves, creating ruffles throughout; most apparent across back and sleeves. Collar, sleeves and cuffs decorated with embroidered floral, curvilinear, and geometric designs; done in red, dark blue, orange, and white. Rest of garment is undecorated. Designs on collar done in rows, from top to bottom: alternating coloured "V"'s with flowers in negative space, alternating coloured flowers, alternating diamonds and parallelograms with dot and linear motifs throughout, alternating coloured flowers, and alternating coloured "V"'s with flowers in negative space. Bottom edge of collar has protruding triangles with large flowers; open weave in between components. Sleeves have slits at the cuffs, secured shut with short ties, and two wide, decorative bands. Top is same as diamond and parallelogram design. Bottom has squares connected with trapezoid-shaped lines; squares consist of flowers, triangles, and semi-circles. Cuffs are trimmed with red and dark blue thread; edges are scalloped. Garment is unlined.

Vest3627/3 c

Small cream-coloured vest with front opening; secured with two hook and eye closures. Wide band of green velvet trims the neck and front openings, and front and side bottom edges; trim is bordered with wavy red ribbons. Trim along front opening is embroidered with floral and heart motifs; done in red, pink, dark blue, white, and orange. Overtop hook and eye closures are dark blue stripes with fringe, which are decorated with painted buttons and curvilinear embroidery. Vest has two flap pockets on either side; right is functional, left is decorative. Interior is lined with plain fabric.

Over Skirt3097/3

A rectangular brown-black cloth with a wide patterned band lengthwise across the lower third. The band is made up of thick red and pink horizontal stripes and thin purple and green stripes. The pattern is a thin repeating vertical zigzag in tan. The zigzags have spirals on each outer point. There is a vertical band towards the left edge of the pattern where the zigzags stop and the tan fibre is woven straight across.

Over Skirt3097/2

A rectangular black cloth with a wide, colourful, patterned band lengthwise across the lower half. The side and bottom edges of the cloth are bordered in red, with green and pink dots along the edge. The band has three horizontal rows, each patterned with horse motifs in profile. The top and bottom row have a dark red background, and the middle row has a background of horizontal red, black, and green stripes. There are colourful patterned borders between the rows. All three rows begin (left-right) with two horses, the bottom four facing down and the top two facing up. All the rows have a space in the pattern where the background colour is visible without pattern. After the space, the horses in the top and bottom rows are alternately facing up and down the cloth in pairs, repeated across the textile. The middle row has a horizontal zigzag line with spirals on either side, bordered by another line. In the empty triangles made by the zigzag pattern, is a single horse motif facing away from the middle of the row. There are also alpaca(?) and dog(?) motifs in some triangular spaces along with the horse.

Doll3610/11

Plastic doll standing with hands at sides. The doll has dark brown skin with curly synthetic black hair and brown eyes that open and close. The doll has a headband with three rows of small grey shells and an open weave head covering the hair. They carry a loosely woven bilum bag with pieces of wood(?) inserted horizontally throughout that hangs from a strap strung over the head. On the arms are dark brown woven arms bands and around the waist a thin woven band. The doll has a bark apron, covered by strings of small grey seeds that are twisted from the neck around the shoulders and then back around the waist multiple times. On the calves are mismatched woven leg bands.

Doll3610/10

Plastic doll standing with hands at sides. The doll has dark brown skin with synthetic black hair and brown eyes that open and close; it has a headband with three rows of small grey shells and a headdress with three tiered layers of plant fibre - in red, purple and natural (front to back, small to large). There are lengths of bark woven into the hair. The doll has a loosely woven cloak with horizontal pieces of wood(?) inserted throughout, with a bark cloth cloak layered overtop; also dark brown woven arm and leg bands, a chest band, and a skirt of twisted fibre over a red loin cloth. The doll wears strings of small grey seeds twisted from the neck around the shoulders and then back around the waist.

Baby Carrier3613/1

Basketry baby carrier with woven tumpline; made up of slat foundation and sides covered with coiled cedar bark. Carrier is rounded and wider at head; tapered and narrow at foot. Exterior sides and head walls have a repeating checkered square pattern, alternating between red-brown and black; thin bands of undyed bark in between squares. Exterior wall of foot has two squares with half red-brown and half black checkers. Interior of carrier is undecorated. Thin skin straps and ties threaded through top edge, near four corners and head of carrier; tumpline is attached to skin straps at foot. Tumpline has central diamond design with triangles extending from either side; diamond and triangles are undyed. Negative space around shapes done in black, red, and olive green alternating bands.
