Long rectangular embroidered hanging or banner. This horizontal textile has eleven panels containing birds (including a peacock), flowers, elephants and a seated Ganesh figure, all with embroidery-framed circular mirrors included in the designs. The panels are bordered by a band of checkered pattern in sections of red, green, white, blue and beige. Along the top of the banner, above the border, is a horizontal panel of repeating triangles (mountains?) with a bird's foot shape in the space between each triangle. Both sides of the banner taper in to points. Edged with red fabric and ten looped tabs along the sides and top edge. The reverse is not backed except small pieces of fabric at each tapered end as well as a section left of centre.

Bag3558/18

Babiche bag with pink and blue yarn tassel decorations. Main body of bag done in an open weave; babiche is white with a thin brown stripe towards top edge. Bag opening consists of a wide band of caribou skin with two ties along top edge, for securing bag closed. Long hide strap stitched to outer corners of opening. Yarn decorations done in rows of four, three, and three on front; four tassels along bottom edge and additional ones on each side. Back of bag is undecorated.

Face Cover3553/1 a-b

Rectangular fabric face covering, with coins and beadwork across surface (part a). Covering has a plain red centre and is bordered by alternating white cotton braids and silver beads; triangular charms stitched along top edge of red centre. Two eye holes cut out above rectangle; fabric ridge sewn down middle of covering, imitating a nose. Ridge has coins attached along the top edge, and plastic beads and buttons along the sides. Two thin, pink embroidered bands attached to sides of covering, with strands of metal beads hanging from the bottom edges; red and green tassels throughout beads. Embroidered bands have columns of orange, green, and yellow diamonds along them. Additional coin and bead decorations along bottom edge of face covering. Back is lined with floral fabric and has a leather tie on the left side (lower half- part b); two fabric loops in each corner along top edge.

Skirt3587/45

Tube skirt with warp ikat patterning. The tube skirt is composed of 5 various-sized panels stitched together, then folded and stitched down one side to create a tube. The smallest section is a light pink band made of 3 small panels, followed by a wider band of a rust brown, and then the largest section of black stripes with white flecks on a red background, and a large black band at the bottom. Collector's tag is sewn inside.

Striped tube skirt. Skirt made from three pieces of woven fabric sewn together and then again, along one side, to form a tube. Woven striped design in red, black and colourful dotted lines, and bands in red, pink, blue, yellow, green, off-white and black at the top and bottom edges.

Gold dome-shaped hat with black decorative band around sides. Band has a central ladder design, framed on either side by alternating patterns. Designs alternate between checked rectangles, and vertical arrows with “U” shapes and horizontal bars overtop; vertical lines on either side of arrows. Designs on band are done in gold; interior of hat is unlined.

Shemma cloth scarves (parts a-c). Three pieces of finely woven, gauzy cotton of different lengths and widths. Each piece has panels of embroidery in brown and black, with diamond-shaped motifs in pink, white, yellow and red – alternating between patterns of concentric diamonds and a large diamond composed of four smaller diamonds. Scarf or shawl (part a) is composed of two pieces of white gauze, sewn along one long edge, with embroidered panels down the short sides, with short sparse white fringe. Long shawl (part b) of white gauze with wide embroidered panels along short sides as well as two panels near centre. Small shawl (part c) of white gauze with embroidered panel along one long edge.
