Backstrap Loom633/2 a-g

Part a: wooden loom with a small section of red, dark blue, orange, pink, green, blue and white woven textile with numerous unraveled strands wrapped around other pieces of wood. The textile is detailed with five different coloured stars on a red ground. Part b: rectangular piece of wood with a semi-circular notch out of each end. Part c thick wooden bar with triangular, pointed ends. Part d: long, cylindrical shaped wooden stick with flat ends. Part e: long, thick, cylindrical shaped wooden stick with flat ends. Part f: wooden bar with triangular, pointed ends. Part g: long, cylindrical shaped wooden stick with flat ends.

Loom with an unfinished textile consisting of a floral design of two large pink, red and orange flowers with blue and green leaves on a burgundy ground. The textile is attached to three large, cylindrical shaped wooden sticks; two at the bottom. Intertwine in the cream warp of the textile are seven wooden tools: two are flat and rectangular with triangular, pointed ends; one is cylindrical with notched ends while the remaining four are simply cylindrical.

Backstrap LoomE368 a-f

Loom (part a-f) consisting of a partly woven textile (part a) with unwoven warps, attached shedding devices and accompanying wooden tools. The weaving consists of a large x-shape filled with a lozenge pattern surrounded by stripes all on a burgundy ground. Both ends have large woven sections with an unwoven, cream coloured centre. There are cylindrical loom bars attached to the textile at each end. In the middle are three sticks with string heddles and a shed roll (part c). In addition, there is large stick with tapered, pointed ends (part b) along with three long, cylindrical shaped sticks (parts d, e, f).

Tunic867/28

Maroon tunic with appliqué. The tunic has a short standing collar, long sleeves and side opening with frog closures. The collar has purple trim. The sleeves have blue, green and yellow bands, white meander design and purple trim. The side opening has blue and yellow bands, green openwork design and purple trim. The inside is unlined.

Apron867/29

Black apron with white embroidery. The apron has narrow curved bib with a metal button closure, leading to a square skirt and long ties. The lower bib has floral motifs in white on black ground. The upper skirt has a centre pocket with a leaf motif in white. From the sides extend long white ties with ends embroidered with floral motifs in pink and green. The back of the upper bib is lined with red floral print fabric.

Back Apron867/26

Black and white apron with embroidery. The apron is square with long red ties sewn to the upper corners. The tie ends have rows of embroidery in black and white. The front has a large white square with embroidered floral motifs in black. The edges of the black backing are folded up and sewn overlapping the white square, creating a border. On the inner edge of the black border is a white meander pattern.

Hanging with three perpendicular sides and a fourth side that slopes inwards from one corner along the width. The hanging is composed of several panels of peony patterned brocade on light grey ground with muted tones of orange, green, red, blue and gold. Two peony patterned fabric tabs and two ties are attached to the front along the curved side. Lined with brownish-purple iridescent silk.

Rain cape woven from grass and off-white string with a strip of off-white cotton reinforcing the slightly gathered top edge and the top quarter of each side. Fringed at the bottom with two strands of twined purple plant fibre at the top of the fringe.
