Rectangular shaped, maroon cotton band (parts a-c) consisting of a white geometric designs with yellow and green stripes on either side. In the middle is a frayed section of long pieces of coloured thread. Sash is all one piece. All parts are similar.

Fan492/1

Rattan ? fan covered in small beads and edged with blue and yellow silk fabric. The fan has a semi-circular body with a curved indentation at the back to form a rectangular shaped stem that attaches to a long cylindrical shaped, wooden handle. The handle is painted red and green. The centre of the fan has a multi-coloured bead plant motif in with dark green, orange, yellow, navy and pink on a white background. Around the outer edge are dark green, white and red stripes. The back of the fan is covered in dark pink, cotton cloth. The back has a small rectangular adhesive tag that reads ‘Made in India’.

Two narrow bands (part a-b) with woven pattern and tassels. The woven bands are of white cotton and black warp, with white cotton weft. The pattern repeats black geometric shapes within blocks on white ground. One end is left unwoven and a cotton cord tassel attached, inserted through warp.

Fully imbricated in cat-tail grass (?), with designs of two vertical rows on each long side of dark cherry bark triangles connected leaving a plain space of two diagonal stripes. Tall narrow coiled basket (bifurcated stitches) with attached flanged lid. Parallel splint base and lid construction. Rawhide hinges, front closure, and string handle. Fully imbricated in cat-tail grass, with same dark cherry bark geometric design front and back. At front on one corner is a vertical row of connected and alternating red and dark cherry bark triangles. On each short side is same vertical row of dark cherry bark triangles that connect at corners to form a three pattern. At front rim are tiered stitches at intervals, alternating between red and black cherry bark. at sides and back there are only two stitches. Lid has design of three dark cherry bark diamonds, with red cherry bark lines on each side. Repeated shape, alternating between red and dark cherry bark, along rim.
