Long, eighteen-strand beaded necklace. Alternating bands of spherical blue and red beads with elongated tube-like carved bone beads; bands are separated by strips of hide. Upper portion of necklace consists of black spherical beads split into two sections, creating a hole for the head; three strands of carved bone and white and black beads dangle from the back of the necklace, tied together with strips of cloth and hide.

Woman’s large embroidered shawl made from greenish black cotton textile, embellished with horizontal rows of red and off-white (or pale yellow) finely embroidered geometric designs worked in silk floss. Rectangular in shape and worn over the head with the wide dimension encircling the wearer; the top two corners are turned back and tacked down to the body of the shawl, where there are large clusters of red broken threads on each side where large ornaments may have once been attached. There is a dense row of bright red, white and blue glass beads and red silk tassels that extends from the edge of one turn-back to the other, at about 32 centimetres from the top of the shawl. The piece has a densely embroidered border and the sides and bottom are edged with a narrow brass(?) chain. The textile is pieced in places.

A dark blue rayon gathered skirt that has a 12.5 cm. horizontal panel of orange cotton embroidered with cross stitch in geometric designs at the hemline. The horizontal embroidered panel has a design consisting of alternating mint green and dark blue chevrons in an X-shape and yellow and dark blue cross-shapes pattern on an orange background. Waistband and centre back opening. Fastened with a large green plastic button. Patch pocket on left side. Pieced together.

Horse Blanket1228/4

Colourful, decorative patchwork horse blanket. Roughly square in shape, but widened at the tail end by means of narrow triangular strips sewn on each side. The central design field is a patchwork of large multi-coloured squares: some squares contain small patchwork designs, some are solid-coloured, others contain embroidered designs and some are solid-coloured squares edged with cross-stitched borders. The central design field is bordered with a row of smaller multi-coloured squares, edged in solid black. The materials used to construct the squares are embroidered cottons, ikat silks, plain cotton broadcloth and machine printed cottons. Some elements are reclaimed from other sources. It is edged with tan commercially made, long (11.5 cm), twisted cotton(?) fringe along the back and sides of the tail end. The object is backed with striped and machine printed cotton textiles, which are pieced together; there is a light layer of cotton batting between the top and the backing.

Horse Blanket1376/9

Large, very heavy, multi-coloured, decorative horse blanket made from rough wool warp-faced textile and backed with a thick layer of felted wool fleece. It is roughly rectangular in shape, with a deep squared-off indentation (57 cm x 52 cm) at one end (the end close to the horse’s neck). Loops made of red and white braided wool or cotton are sewn near the bottom inside corners of the indentation. Two long, narrow triangular pieces are sewn at the outside edge of the opposite end of the rectangle. The predominant colours are red, brown, blue, yellow and greyish white, and the textile is woven in vertical stripes; red and blue stripes alternate with patterned stripes with blue, yellow and greyish white geometric forms. All outside edges are finished with brown wool braid and brown twisted fibre fringe. The fringe has been mended with orange fringe in a few places. The heavy layer of felted fleece (light brown with dark brown spots) that is used as a backing over the entire underside of the blanket is quilted to the top layer with running stitches.

Rectangular felt rug made of natural and dyed wool fibres, with bold patterns and designs created by patchwork and embroidery. The main design field consists of three large red diamond shapes that are decorated with blue, green, yellow and white motifs; the dominant motif resembles the number 3 or the letter E in script. There are small sun disc designs in the centre of each red diamond. The central field is surrounded by a row of rectangular embroidered red patches. There is a patchwork band of solid-coloured, natural black, brown and red-brown pieces around the edges of the design field. The short sides of the rectangle are finished with multi-coloured fringe, and there are narrow embroidered red and grey geometric borders on the long sides.

Pink vest with appliqué roundels. The vest has a rounded neck, side slits and centre opening with brass frog closures. The sides and bottom hem have green borders with white trim. The roundels on the centre front and back have a peony motif in dark red, pink and green on blue ground. The inside lining is yellow linen.

Hat1693/3

A cone-shaped hat and strap covered with feathers and dyed grassed. The hat, and strap appear to be made of woven grass, and the feathers are attached to this. There is a horizontal row of "flowers" made of grass and cloth and mounted onto paper, then sewn around the middle of the hat on top of the white feathers on the background. The hat has an opening at the top which is partially concealed by long brown and red feathers sewn into the inside of the hat. Inside the hat, there are feathers sewn halfway up the inside. The back of the strap is lined with a cloth, and the ends are sewn into the inside of the hat.

Woman's blouse made of vertical panels of embroidered fabric alternating with hand-made lace. The embroidered panels are cross stitched with rayon floss in geometric designs on a solid field, blue and orange predominating. The shoulders each have three vertical embroidered panels, from left to right: a design consisting of mint green squares in a zig zags in between red zig zag lines pattern; a design consisting of orange octagons outlined by white and having a blue eight-petalled flower within, each petal of which has a white spot; and a design consisting of diamond shapes outlined by mint green and having a red star-cross shape within over an orange lattice work pattern on a dark blue background. The middle of the shirt has the same three vertical embroidered panels from left to right. Square neckline. Front, and back are identical.
