Tan basket with simple coiled work (bifurcated stitches), parallel slat base construction, and zigzag loop work border on the upper rim. Overcast handle, which is fully beaded. Two horizontal rows of chevron designs alternating in red cherry bark/canary grass/black chery bark/canary grass. The two rows are staggered.

Large rectangular coiled basket (bifurcated stitches) with foot. Parallel slat base construction. Fully imbricated in cat-tail grass (?) with three rows of zigzags, in dark cherry bark, cat-tail grass (?) and red cherry bark, connecting to give a lattice of diamond shapes. The foot has three rows of beaded red cherry bark.

Rectangular mat with woven pattern. There are six bands through the weft strands. Each band has two strips of dark bark on a downward diagonal and a centre strip of dark natural bark on an upwards diagonal. Together the strips form a zigzag design. The border around the edges of the mat is formed by a double line of dark strips through the warp, crossing at the corners. The edges are finished by overcasting on a core of cedar bark. The mat is sewn together in the middle on the weft axis.

Rectangular coiled cedar root berry basket with gently flaring sides and an attached lid. Sides decorated with four large vertical panels (one per side) of large red cherry bark and cat-tail grass bounded by tri-colour stripes; beading top and bottom. Lid has triple row of beading along circumference with isolated red cherry bark and dyed cat-tail stitches on top. Simple coiled work (bifurcated stitches along sides). Parallel slat base and lid construction (reinforced by plain stitches on end edges); base has flange. String handle.

Small, cylindrical woven basket (a) with a fitted lid (b); lit has a raised knob in the centre. Plain twined weaving with skipped stitch weave at top. Three bands of purple alternating with natural vertical stripes placed out of phase with each other, resulting from plain twined weaving (two-strand) using one purple and one natural weft element.

Storage BasketA1821

Basket with interlocking coiled work, bifurcated stitches, and parallel slat base and lid construction. Flange at rim to fit lid. The lid is convex, and hinged to the basket with buckskin. Buckskin ties at front. Decorated with imbrication and beading. Partial imbrication in a continuous design. Two horizontal wide bands of a 'flying goose' design (zig-zag with flat bottoms and tops), alternating in white cat-tail grass (?) and red and black-dyed cherry bark. Upper and lower band are connected. The upper row is continued on the sides of the lid, and the sequence of red and black are reversed from lower band. Lid has a series of parallel beaded short bands in black cherry bark and cat-tail grass (?) , alternating with bands of with red cherry bark with cat-tail grass (?). Handles on each side, one with string tied to it, the other with red thread.

Rectangular, woven, tan-coloured basket that flares upward and outward. Simple coiled work (bifurcated stitches) with elongated watch-spring base construction and partial imbrication. Vertical striped design in red/black/red cherry bark and white/red cherry bark/white grass alternating with a stripe of black/white/black and red/black/red. Four vertical rows on each long side and three vertical rows on each short end. One row of beading on the base. Pattern does not cover the four rows near the base.
