Twined spruce root basket; base is mixed twined work (plain twining alternation with plain twining). Sides are plain twined; design is false and true embroidered. Two double rows of diagonal twined work near base in natural and dark brown. Main ribbon of design has the "tattoo" pattern (Emmons, Desing 35) (a sideways "h") in dark brown, and a stepped design in yellow/brown/yellow. Bordered by yellow bands, and all on brown bands. Dark brown rim.

Swamp grass covered glass jar. Plain bands of colour top and bottom with two interior bands of green twined with red. Inside this are a row of purple birds along the top, a row of purple whales in the centre, and a row of alternating two-man canoes (one of which has line to whale) and ducks along the bottom.

Burden BasketA8827

Burden basket made of coiled cedar root woven together with cherry bark and cat-tail grass (?). Simple coiled work with bifurcated stitches and an elongated watch-spring base construction. The upper half is decorated with a meander motif in black bark on white grass, two on each side or end. The lower half has a "cluster of flies" pattern (checkerboard strips) in black cherry bark. Two rawhide loops on one of the wider sides.

Baby CarrierA8819

Coiled tan cedar root basketry cradle decorated with partial beading. The sides have a series of chevron figures in both black and red cherry bark with elaborate grass and cherry bark beading at the head. The end of the cradle features a series of double forms, giving modified chevron form. The rim has continuous imbrication around the circumference. Simple interlocking coiled work (bifurcated stitches) with parallel slat base construction and splint overcast rim construction. Splint row at foot of base.

Red and tan coiled cedar root basketry cradle. The rim is beaded in black cherry bark (1:1 ratio). The first four slat rows are beaded with four rows, the first in black cherry bark and the next three in cat-tail grass (2:1 ratio) over varying parts of the basket. Twelve small imbricated panels in one of two basic patterns. Simple interlocking coiled work (bifurcated stitches) with parallel slat construction and an overcast rim. There are three holes, one made at the shorter end and two side-by-side on the bottom.

Small, cylindrical basket (a) with a fitted lid (b); lid has a raised, knob-like handle in centre. Decoration on sides of basket: two birds, each clutching an arrow; a thin set of circumferal bands (yellow enclosed by dark red) near the base, with a similar set of bands near the edge of lid. Lid: a four-colour whirlpool design around knob on the lid.

Pair of leaf-shaped, light brown wooden snowshoes; one end is rounded and sharply upturned while the other tapers gently to an extended point. Three wooden crossbars separate the rawhide latticework into three main sections, with a mesh-like pattern at the two ends and open, rectangular grid-like strapping in the centre. Tufts of red fabric and bristly white hair are tied along the centre of the front and back panels.

Imbricated zig-zag pattern in two rows of red an dark cherry bark, cat-tail grass (?), and red cherry bark bands. Lid has solid rows of imbrication at rim in red cherry bark, and in cat-tail grass (?), and a row of dark cherry bark near center.
