Band3486/99

Band (watana) with fringe ends and beaded edging. Dark red and light beige yarn are woven together to form the main design of the band with geometric motifs, spirals, circles, diamonds, and wavy lines. The design is contained in a lilac coloured border and olive-green edging with small round opaque white beads. The beads extend across the majority of the top and bottom of the band with small sections left empty near the fringe ends.

Band (watana) with fringe ends and beaded edging. Red and light beige yarn are woven together to form the main design of the band with geometric motifs and spirals, diamonds, hearts, triangles, straight and wavy lines, diamonds, ‘S’ shapes, ‘X’ shapes, dots, and a fish. The top and bottom borders of the band feature a stripe in mustard yellow, olive green, and reddish-brown with small round white opaque beads. The beads extend across the majority of the top and bottom of the band with small sections left empty near the fringe ends.

Band (watana) with fringe ends and beaded edging. Strands of red, off-white, and orange handspun wool are woven into geometric patterns and motifs with diamonds, ‘X’-shapes, ‘S’-shapes, circles, and straight and wavy lines against a black background. The purple border has small round bead edging along the top and bottom in predominantly opaque white beads, with a small section of transparent blue beads at one end.

Band (watana) woven from handspun naturally dyed yarn. A geometric pattern of alternating greyish-blue and rust coloured triangles, separated by an off-white zigzag are at the centre of the motif. The band has a border in deep brownish-red and olive green along the top and bottom edges, an unfinished end, and a braided fringe on the other end. .

Woven band (watana) with a triangular or point (puntas) motif in handspun yarn. Alternating off-white and red triangles containing dots of the opposite colour are arranged next to each other to across the horizontal centre of the band, contained in two thin greyish-blue lines. The band has a border in oxblood and olive green. One end of the band has a small twisted fringe formed from the strands of the weaving.

Woven band (jakima) finished on one end in four braids sewn together to form a loop. The chili (name of plant with serrated leaves) q’enqo (zigzag) design is repeated across the band in white, with long zigzags and serrated triangles decorating the space between the points of the zigzags against a background of alternating rectangles in black and dark mustard yellow. The design is contained in a thin border of purple, light brown, and black across the top and bottom edges.

Band3486/87

Woven band (jakima) finished with a fringe on one end. Two horizontal stripes in pink and green form the backdrop for the varied motifs worked in yellow yarn across the band. The motifs include a short section of zigzags at the fringe end, repeating kutij (that which returns on itself) ‘s’ shapes, a puito (small seeds) design of zigzags that branch off into small oval seed shapes leading into an aysa kutji (linked kutji) motif of connected wave-like shapes, followed by geometric and diamond shapes arranged to form a nawi (eyes) motif, concluding in another small section unlinked kutji (that which returns on itself) ‘s’ shapes. The design is contained in a thin green and brownish yellow border across the top and bottom edges. .
