Pair of boots made of caribou skin. Legs and vamps are covered in a mix of brown and white fur, soles are light brown hide. On either side of the boot heels are two long hide ties, meant to be secured around the ankles. The top openings are edged with dark blue cloth, through which is threaded a white braided drawstring. Interiors are unlined.
Hollow brass gong with open base. Top has raised circular knob in centre, with surrounding area slightly sunken. Small circular impressions across entire surface. Sides of gong slope inwards. Two holes drilled along top side with nylon(?) cord strung through them. Knot tied towards top of cord, for hanging purposes. Ends of cord, inside of gong, have green plastic attachments.
Weighing scale, or beam balance, consisting of a plate and balance rod (part a), with separate weight (part b). Rod is made of dark wood with brass plating around the tips. There are dot motifs along the front side, with the numbers 5, 10, 20, 30, 40, 50 at intervals along the length, between the dots. Dots continue along the top of the rod. Dots are made of metal(?) and are impressed into the wood. Three holes are drilled through the rod, towards the left side, with knotted plant fibre and plastic ties inserted through them, for hanging purposes. Along the bottom of the left tip of the rod, there is a floral-shaped pendulum. Attached are two chains made out of S-hooks. One has a large semi-circular hook at the end, the other has four dark green-grey cords attached. Cords are drilled into the sides of the weighing plate. Plate is made of thin brass metal, with two ring designs incised in the middle. In the centre of the circle is a simple floral motif. Numbers are stamped into the plate's surface. The accompanying weight is bell-shaped with a semi-circular handle. Plain string tied through handle. There is a raised circular band around the handle, and two lines are incised along the top edge of the weight. Numbers are stamped on the weight’s base, matching the numbers on the plate.
Woven conical hat with tiered, rod brim. Bottom rods are naturally coloured, top rod is partially painted red. Six sections of plant fibre, that bind all the rods together, are painted black and red, forming a vertical stripe pattern. Painted sections are evenly spread out along the brim. Naturally coloured loop attached to brim, for hanging purposes. Hat is divided into six sections- three rectangles and three triangles. The rectangular sections have a black background with a naturally coloured zigzag down the middle. A vertical line, done in red, runs through the pattern. The triangular sections have diagonal rows of concentric diamond designs, trimmed with zigzags on either side. Diamonds and lines are done in black. All sections are bordered by red painted lines. Red tassel, with cowrie shells, attached to tip of hat.
Pyramid-like basket, with a thin oval-shaped opening and rectangular base (part a). Has a separate lid (part b). Basket is naturally coloured and woven in alternating sections of horizontal and vertical chevrons. Has a short foot, made of rattan(?) strips nailed together. Additional strand tied to frame with dark brown plant fibre. Along the bottom edge, on the back of the basket, there is a plain rod, securing long, braided straps. The straps extends overtop of the basket and are tied together, near their ends, with dark brown plant fibre. Basket front has a braid, of naturally coloured plant fibre, interwoven through it, forming a long upside down “U” shape. Towards the top of the “U,” the braid protrudes outward, creating an opening at the top and two loops on either side. The straps thread through the top of the “U” and a small reed (part c) fits through the loop sides, securing the straps in place. Lid is naturally coloured and woven in horizontal chevrons. Has a raised rim, made of rattan(?) strips nailed together. Additional strand tied to frame with dark brown plant fibre. Clear plastic string tied to front centre of lid. Basket straps thread through plastic string, securing lid to basket.
Pyramid-like basket, with oval-shaped opening and rectangular base. Has an attached, fitted lid, that covers the top third of the basket. Basket and lid are naturally coloured and woven in alternating sections of horizontal and vertical chevrons. Top of lid has a raised rim, made of rattan(?) strips, with another oval-shaped strip in the centre. Basket lid is shaped with two exterior coils of rattan(?), attached to the lid with dark brown plant fibre. Basket itself is shaped with exterior coil of rattan(?), along the top edge, and two rods along each side. All are tied to the basket with dark brown plant fibre. Two additional rods are intertwined through the basket, to secure braided straps. Rods form an “M” shape on the front and an upside down “U” on the back. Some sections of the “M” and “U” are only visible from the interior of the basket. Straps are attached to the front centre of the basket and form a “V” shape. The straps extend overtop of the basket and loop through the rods on the basket back. Lid is attached to the basket at the front. Braided plant fibre, tied to an exterior coil on the lid, loops through the basket straps, forming a hinge. Basket has a short foot, identical to the lid top- made of rattan(?) strips and an oval-shaped strip in the centre.
Handled basket (part a) with a separate lid (part b). Basket has a circular opening, formed by exterior coils of rattan(?), and a hexagon-shaped body. Has a short foot, also formed with rattan(?) strips, stitched to the base with plant fibre. Secured to the foot, and the sides, is a U-shaped handle that extends overtop of the entire basket. Area around opening of basket is woven in tight, horizontal chevrons. Sides are woven loosely, in intersecting diagonal and horizontal lines. Basket base has openwork lines extending from each corner to the centre, resembling a six-pointed star. Lid is hexagon-shaped. Structure is formed by rattan(?) strips along the bottom edge. Openwork design on surface of lid, resembling a six-pointed star. Small loop, made of braided plant fibre, attached to right edge.
Circular basketry plate, with a wide lip and small well. Base is flat and has a hole in its centre, visible from both sides. Plate is made of coils of rattan(?), secured together with plant fibre. Rim is entirely covered in plant fibre. Well and lip are separate pieces, bound together at the edges. Plant fibres throughout plate alternate between different shades of brown, creating horizontal stripe patterns.
Rectangle-like basket with attached lid. Container has a circular opening, flaring out to curved shoulders. Body is square, with rounded sides, and has a short foot, made of rattan(?) strips. Basket and lid are dyed and woven in horizontal chevrons. Structure of lid and basket made from exterior coils of rattan(?), covered in dyed golden brown plant fibre. Basket and lid are coloured brown-red and have dark brown decorations throughout. Decorations consist of dash lines, forming connected diamonds. Bottom of basket and top of lid have large dark brown “X”’s, with square centres. Lid is fitted and covers top of basket, down to the flared shoulders. Top of lid has a raised square rim, made of rattan(?) strips. Sides are rounded. Lid is attached to basket with braided cord, threaded through exterior coils of lid and basket. Excess cord at top of lid, allowing it to lift away from basket opening. When fully removed from basket, lid hangs along side.
