Gong Beater2967/56

Cantonese opera gong beater. Small wooden beater is long and rectangular, tapering at the bottom with a blunt tip. A hole is bored at the top of the beater and has a metallic gold elasticized string through it. Three similar Chinese characters are written on the upper half of each side of beater, one side in black marker, the other in blue ink. The wood is very lightweight.

Replica Mortar2600/22 a-c

Carved wooden replica mortar (part a) and two pestles (parts b and c). Zigzag designs on each have been drawn in thin felt pen/marker of dark brown, green, purple and blue. Name written on around base of mortar.

Compact Disk2574/99 a-b

Two storage compact discs of visual recordings. The discs are silver coloured on the surface, and drawn on by the artist in black marker. Disc 'a' (1 of 2) has two birds drawn on it, disc 'b' (2 of 2) has a person wearing a hat. Title of the disc, website, date, number, and artist's signature are written on each: "The Last Voyage of the Black Ship Feb 2003" 1/2 and 2/2.

DrumD2.73 a-b

Drum (part a) that has a wood frame over which rawhide has been stretched on both faces and sewn with thong on side. Doeskin (chamois) strips sewn together cover drum edge. Faces and border decoration on each side of drum, at least partly with felt pen and stick. The stick is covered in rawhide (part b).
