Basket3512/4 a-b

Large storage basket (part a) with lid (part b). Basket has a circular opening, with a flared lip, that gently slopes into a rounded body with a flat base. Entire basket is decorated with bands of repeating stripes. From to bottom the bands are: natural golden brown, orange-brown, dark brown, orange-brown, dark brown, and natural golden brown. The base is decorated with concentric circles, done in (from outer to inner): dark brown, natural golden brown, brown, and dark brown. Lid has extended sides that fit over the lip of the basket. Lid top is concave and dyed dark brown, sides are natural golden brown, and bottom edge is light orange. Patterns on both components are visible on interior and exterior.

Basket3512/6 a-b

Large squat basket (part a) with lid (part b). Basket has a circular opening and a flat shoulder. Walls bulge outward and taper into a flat base. Concentric star design in centre of base, extending outward to decorate entire basket. Lid has an extended lip and interior ridge, that fits into the container body. Button knob on top centre of lid. Curved lines spiral outward from knob. Patterns on both components are visible on interior and exterior. Both components are golden brown, designs are done in brown-red.

Basket3512/17

Circular basket with flared opening. Walls slope into flat base. Basket walls are decorated with alternating groups of diamonds and wide zigzags with pointed ends. Motifs extend downward from rim. The small groupings of diamonds reach middle of walls, zigzags touch edges of base. Base is undecorated. Patterns are visible on interior and exterior. Basket is golden brown, designs are done brown-red and dark brown.

Harpoon3508/2 a-b

Harpoon (part a) with a detachable head (part b). Harpoon has a cylindrical steel shaft inserted into a wider wooden handle. Ends of wood are capped with copper(?). Hide cord wrapped around bottom end in a loose spiral, before tightening into a thick band; hide acts as a handgrip. Second hide tie knotted around base of metal shaft. Top of shaft tapers to a point, for head to fit on. Harpoon head consists of an oval-shaped blade, with a sharp point, welded to a triangular holder. Long rope line strung through hole drilled into centre of holder, creating a large loop. Rope is secured together at intervals.

Boots3508/4 a-b

Pair of boots made of wolf skin. Legs and vamps are covered in white fur, soles are light brown hide. On either side of the boot heels are two long hide ties, meant to be secured around the ankles. The top openings are edged with canvas-like material, through which is threaded a dark pink drawstring. Bottom edges of openings are trimmed with three decorative bands. Top rows have an alternating white and dark blue triangle motif; second are plain yellow; third are green with scalloped edges, with a shiny, gold-coloured diamond motif overtop. Interiors are unlined.

Figure3505/25

Beaded antelope-like figure, with an internal metal structure wrapped in cloth. Head is rectangle-like with straight antlers and flat ears; both are done in black with pearl blue tips. Face is orange with black throughout, imitating the eyes, nose and mouth. Animal has a cylindrical-shaped body and long thin legs; done in light blue. Short orange tail hangs from back, with black fringe along the bottom edge. Concentric triangle pattern circles the body and neck; done in black, orange and pearl blue. Black and orange bands along the legs.

Model Kayak3505/30 a-d

Model kayak carved from antler (part a). Small figure (part b) sits inside cockpit, wearing a hooded parka. Eyes and mouth are incised, nose carved in low relief. Arms are held straight in front of body. Small notches along centre edges of hands to hold a separate double-bladed paddle (parts c and d; paddle is broken). Back of figure is polished; front is rough and dark grey, showing core of antler. In front of the figure, two harpoons are tied to the kayak with white fibre. Animal-shaped harpoon rest, with holes drilled along its length, in between them. Ends of kayak are carved in low relief.

Harpoon3508/1 a-b

Harpoon (part a) with a detachable head (part b). Harpoon has a flat shaft, made of two pieces of antler riveted together, that narrows to a point. Shaft is inserted into a wider “V”-shaped piece of antler, riveted to a cylindrical wooden handle. Knife-shaped, antler blade secured to opposite end of handle with hide ties and copper nails. Hide strip woven through the bottom centre of wooden handle. Strip held close to handle with hide and rope ties. Harpoon head consists of an oval-shaped steel blade, with a sharp point, riveted to a triangular holder. Long hide strap strung through hole drilled into centre of holder. End of strap has a loop handle.

Face is yellow with metallic grey throughout, imitating the eyes, nose and mouth. Animal has a cylindrical-shaped body and angled legs, done in light green; chest and buttocks are yellow. Flat yellow tail hangs from back, with green fringe along the bottom edge. Concentric diamond designs circle the legs, body and neck. Concentric triangle designs across the chest and buttocks. Motifs are done in metallic grey, yellow and light green.
