Fragment: Sling3263/57

Fragment of a sling. Cradle is brown and has a central split with a diamond pattern on either side. Diamonds alternate between plain and concentric. All are outlined in black. Tapering sides have vertical stripes, done in black and dark brown. Right handle has alternating pattern of light brown and black diamonds across entire surface. Left handle is missing.

Fragment: Sling3263/64

Fragment of a sling. Consists of cradle and small section of right handle. Cradle has design of five zoomorphic figures, over a plain background, done in geometric style. Figures have two legs and feet, an oval eye and bulbous head. Three figures and their backgrounds on right side alternate between red and brown. Figures on left side appear unfinished. They are outlined in dark brown and missing their eyes. Both are on brown backgrounds. Entire back of cradle is coloured light brown. Left tapering section is light brown, right tapering section is red. Both sections have transverse stripes done in dark brown and brown. Portion of right handle is brown with concentric diamond pattern throughout. Diamonds done in red and dark brown. Thick light brown strands extend from where the left handle would be.

Power Figure3420/10

Shrine or power figure. Roughly shaped in the form of a bush cow; made of various compacted (unidentified) organic materials. The body surface shows cracks all over in the dried, layered materials. Also a layer of orange-brown streak marks running down the sides.

Necklace3468/2

Beaded necklace with metal ornament hanging at the bottom. The necklace is composed of two strands of beads, featuring alternating sections of orange and white divided by a single blue bead. At the bottom hangs a small rectangular beaded panel with four repeating blue and orange triangles. Attached to the bottom of the panel, hangs a shaped piece of metal. The upper half is a half circle that joins into a stem-like projection. The whole metal piece has a thin, outwardly extending sharp point, running down through the centre.

Necklace3468/1

Beaded necklace with six layers of square beadwork panels attached together at the centre. The first and third panel each have a three by three grid, second and fifth panel each have a hexagon, fourth panel has a hexagon-like shape with two triangular protrusions, and the sixth panel has a hexagon shape with one triangular protrusion. There are six ties running horizontally through the necklace, creating raised lines of beading. These horizontal pieces are mostly beaded in white, with a section of vertical stripes: red, green, black, yellow, black, green, and red. The fibre ties extend out on both sides, and have red colouring near the beadwork and at the ends, some of which are knotted.

Fragment: Garment3263/34

Incomplete fragment of decorative panels from a garment. Rectangular in shape and made up of two panels with the same design. Ground cloth is cream coloured. Entire surface of both panels covered in design of concentric diamonds with bird figures inside them. Diamonds and birds done in dark yellow. Step and geometric style wave patterns throughout with the same diamond and bird motifs inside them. Steps and waves done in dark red, pink and black. Raised lines throughout first panel, on left side, outlining where more step and wave motifs would have been added. Panels stitched together at centre of fragment with cream coloured thread.

Fragment: Textile3263/33

Fragment of a mantle or shroud. Rectangular in shape and made up of two panels with different patterns. First panel, on left side, has vertical stripe pattern across surface. Stripes alternate between light blue-grey and light grey-brown. Designs on blue stripes are geometric and done in dark blue. Designs on light grey-brown stripes are diagonal rows with alternating patterns of interlocking snakes and waves. Motifs coloured dark brown, and snakes are done in an abstract geometric style. Second panel, on right side, is plain light grey-brown. Panels stitched together with same coloured thread.

Loom3263/81 a-b

Loom. Consists of a partially completed miniature loincloth tied to two bars (part a) and a removable sword (part b). Sword intertwined in centre of weaving. Sword and bars are made of dark brown-grey wood. Loincloth has rows of design across entire surface. Row designs, from top to bottom, are: plain, three rows of vertical diamonds, line through centre with alternating blocks of colour, "X" design across length, checkerboard pattern, "X" design across length, plain, checkerboard pattern, plain, horizontal diamonds, and checkerboard pattern. Designs done in golden brown, dark brown, red, brown-black and white. Rest of weaving is incomplete and golden brown in colour. Thin metal ring on right side of weaving, on the top bar.

Fragment: Quipu3263/85 a-c

Quipu, or string abacus (incomplete). Three cords, the smallest of them split in three. The largest cord (part a) is white and made of two twisted strands of cotton fibre. Left end splits into two smaller branches. Second largest cord (part b) is brown-grey, made of two twisted strands of cotton fibre and has a series of five knots in its centre. Knots are closely spaced. Right end splits into two smaller branches. The smallest cord is dark brown and split into three pieces (part c). All parts are made of two twisted strands of cotton fibre. Right end tied off. Left end pieces are a series of three knots. Knots are closely spaced.

Fragment: Cloth3263/17

Fragment of a woman's head cloth(?). Rectangular in shape and coloured dark brown. Vertical columns of resist-dyed circles across surface. Mainly done in white, towards left side, and yellow-brown towards centre. Columns of circles begin to curve, towards the right side, halfway across fragment. Textile stitched to cream coloured fabric, secured to off-white matboard.
