Moose Skin1194/1

Large, rectangular shaped moose hide, stretched and tide to a wooden frame. There are traces of fur along the edges where numerous holes have been cut for the rope to pass through. The corners of the frame are bound together by rope.

A length of coiled rope is attached to a woven harness or bridle with a ?flower motif central decoration from which hangs several plaited tassels. The woven bands which comprise the bridle are decorated with black and light brown weaving. The shape of the bridle is hard to ascertain because it is wrapped in rope.; Good

The catalogue card states, Carrying strap, the band which goes across the forehead of mountain-goat wool dyed and woven with a zig-zag pattern of light wool against darker brown background. The headband has two side lines attached to the cedar bark underweaving which are made from plaited cedar bark and fibre, possibly nettle fibre or cotton.; Good

Decorated Skull2748/6

Decorated skull covered in clay with tight curls of human hair. A red clay face, formed onto a toothless human skull and decorated with brown, beige, and reddish orange facial tattoo, has Cowrie shell eyes, three rows of brown seeds implanted at the hairline of long twisted black hair locks, and circular bone earrings tied into a hole in each ear.

Drum2738/72

Large drum with both ends covered with skin, one of which is painted with a Corpus Christi scene. Skins are stretched and sewn around a circular-shaped twig frame, which are fitted over each end of the central orange painted wood drum, secured with another bent twig and bound with brown grass twine and leather fastenings that zigzag between the two. On the painted end, in pink, yellow, black and blue on a white background, is depicted an elaborately costumed Corpus Christi dancer, a female spectator, an official and a spotted bird.

Beaded fabric hat with a semi-spherical top and downturned brim, covered in circular, cylindrical and spherical beads which create a triangular pattern (dark green, green, navy, blue, light blue, brown, dark brown, yellow, dark yellow, pink, white and black). Numerous strips of fabric covered with blue and orange elongated rectangular beads hang from the edge of the brim. Two beaded bird figures made out of purple fabric are mounted on top of the bowl of the hat. The outside fabric of the hat is a green and beige plaid pattern and the inside is black with beige face prints.

Pipe Bag1689/6

Hide bag with a square central pouch, long hide fringe along the bottom, and a long opening flap with six finger-like ends. Central pouch is covered with multicoloured geometric beading. Upper flap has clear beads sewn along the edges. Ochre has been rubbed into the skin.

Birch bark basket with pentagonal base and round rim with looped edging. Upper sides are decorated with an etched floral design. Flat lid with central loop handle rests on three bark loops that protruded inward just below rim. Lid has etched scalloping around its edge.
