Pipe Bag67.26.18

The object is a bag made of hide and decorated with woven glass beads. One side depicts diamond forms, 4 sturgeons, 2 condors and 2 men. The other side depicts 3 men, 4 horses and two condors. The bottom f the bag has four tabs with tassels of strung beads and shells. Along the top edge of the bag are two lines of blue beads and two dressed hide loop handles. Condition: It is in fair and stable condition. Several areas of beads are missing and the left side join area needs stabilizing. Conservation report on file.

Long narrow beaded band with fringe at either end. There is a pattern of pink triangles with green and white centres on a white background from end to end. Fringe is also white, pink and green. Has matching earrings (see 2930/13 a-b).

Beaded band on cotton backing. Pattern is a series of geometric figures interspersed with flowers. There are three triangles (red, yellow and blue) at each end. Two hook and eye clasps are sewn onto the cotton backing.

Dance Apron2922/7

Dance apron made of dark red felt with a dark blue wool backing, green and black appliques, beaded designs and rows of bells. The designs are beaded and appliqued plant-like shapes, copper shields and geometrical shapes, surrounding a flower on a long stem. Smaller copper bells hang in three rows at the bottom of the apron, with seven larger silver coloured bells decorating a plant shape above the bottom band. The left, right and bottom edge of the blanket have a scalloped edge. Red cotton apron ties hang on each side.

Beaded circular hand bag with a dark brown-black velvet front and soft leather handles and fringe. A long fringe is attached all along the bottom and sides of the lower half of the bag. The beadwork on the front is a floral pattern with four flowers and leaves encircling a large flower in the centre. The interior of the bag is lined with light green twill and contains a pocket with a plastic zipper.

Knife Holder2922/9

Beaded knife holder. The dark red felt strap is outlined in green cotton and outlined with white beads. The knife pocket is dark green wool outlined with a blue fabric and white beads, with two horizontal bands of blue in the upper portion and decorated with small white beads. A geometric pattern of four squares of green beads joined and outlined with red beads runs along the holder vertically. The back of the strap is lined with cotton.
