Gourd bowl with beaded design covering interior. At centre, there is a hexagon with multiple smaller hexagons within, with a six-pointed star-like shape. Around the hexagon are animals, large and small flower designs, and geometric shapes on a red background. There is a black band outlined in yellow around the interior of the rim with a light purple zigzag pattern.
Multicoloured woman’s dress or tunic embellished with panels and bands of embroidery on both front and back, incorporating several styles of stitches. On the front, there is a large embroidered panel from shoulder to hip, and the upper edge of this panel extends over the shoulders to form a narrow yoke on the back. The panel has a black background and is heavily embroidered with inset mirrors. Bellow, there are three horizontal panels of orange, purple and dark pink, each with circular embroidery using metallic thread. The back of the tunic has a centre-back neckline slit with two buttons. There are also two slits extending up from the hem on either side. The side panels are thin vertical strips of orange, green and bright pink fabric.
Silver container (part a) with glass insert (part b). The container is shaped like a four-petaled flower in cross-section, that tapers in from top to bottom, and stands on a raised base of the same shape. Each convex side has a different panel containing cherry blossoms or bamboo. The glass insert sits snugly within the bowl, and has the same flower-shape. Two makers' marks on base, including WH90.
Silver container (part a) with glass insert (part b). The container has a circular body, thick walls, and both top and bottom are flat with exception to the three feet. The sides are decorated with three raised cherry blossom designs, with the branch of each extending down to form each of the three feet. There is one inset rectangular panel with a raised design. The glass insert fits snugly in the bowl of the container. Mark on base: WH90
Round beaded necklace and two matching bracelets (parts b-c). All three are beaded in twisting bands of red, green and black stripes. The necklace has a beaded loop and knot clasp.
Round beaded necklace. Four long sections of solid green, red or yellow, separated by sections of of small alternating bands ofblack, green, red, and yellow. There is one small section of yellow that extends out further from the circumference of the rest of the necklace.
Long, multi-strand necklace made with coloured beads on plaited black plastic-coated wire. Each strand features a single colour of beads, placed in pairs, that are spaced out by plaited cord. Beads are green, red, blue, yellow, clear. The ends are plaited together into flat ribbon-like pieces, each extending out to one side, and beaded in green and bronze.
Ceramic sculpture of a book standing on end, opened. The cover is decorated with dark blue flowers and swirling vines with a dark yellow spine. The front cover has a white rectangle, which reads 'Alice Through the Looking Glass / And What She Found There', with a black and white drawing of Alice with her hands held together behind her back, looking away. Leaning against the back cover is a figure of a Jabberwocky or dragon-like creature, with its long neck and wing draped over the top of the book, and its other wing and claws reaching around the side. Within, the open pages have a heavily crosshatched drawing of a room with an armchair off to one side, and a fireplace mantel on the other. The upper corners of each page curl forward, revealing writing from the book. Standing in front of the open book is a tall, bright green chest with many small red drawers, some of which are open and have various figures emerging (chess pieces, creatures, flowers). A figure of Alice in her blue dress, white apron and long blonde hair, is facing the dresser. Her face is seen reflected in the mirror on the chest. Next to her, sits a black cat with a red ribbon around its neck. The sculpture's base is a closed book with a dark red cover and dark green spine, which reads 'Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. Artwork representing a carver’s adze (part a) and two glass mauls (parts b-c). The adze blade is made of glass, the handle is maple, painted black. Handle is mostly cylindrical, but narrows towards the top, coming to a point. The blade is oblong, flaring out near the bottom edge, attached to hafting platform with thin, clear plastic twine. More plastic twine wrapped around the handle, near the bottom, to form a handgrip. Artist signature and year engraved into blade, directly below the twine. The larger maul (part b) has a small circular top, tapering handle, and a flared circular bottom. Both ends are flat. The other maul (part c) has a small circular top, tapering handle, and a flared circular bottom. Top has tall, rounded point in centre. Bottom end is flat. Artist signature and year engraved along the bottom edge of both mauls, on the centre back.
Opera dei Pupi puppet of the character named Carlo Magno (King Charlemagne). Three-dimensional marionette carved of wood (part a) with detachable head (part b) mounted on a long, hooked metal rod. He wears a burgundy and gold tunic, purple-red velvet leggings, and a dark blue with gold brocade cape with a gold fringe. He also wears a silver metal belt, silver ankle guards, and a silver crown with deep red velvet underneath four arches, and surmounted by a small brass(?) globe and copper(?) cross. The crown is decorated with set glass(?) stones. His chest is embellished with a shiny woven textile, adorned with applique, sequins and looped-fringe, topped with a silver-coloured necklace with bejeweled cross (part c). The left wrist has a length of black cord tied to it, and the right hand is clenched in a fist, with a hole for an accessory to be inserted through. A metal rod with an eye hook at each end is tied to the right wrist. There is a metal band across the bottom of each heel. The body is jointed at the elbows, shoulders, and hips – with limbs held together by fabric underneath his outfit.
