Ornament3512/37

Tanned leather ornament resembling a rounded bottom purse. Top edge is folded over, creating a flap, with long strands of fringe hanging onto front of ornament. All strands hang from centre; straight pieces stitched to front of flap, one looped piece of fringe stitched to back of ornament. Protruding white beaded band borders all sides, with black triangle designs throughout. Ornament has a braided strap stitched to the left side of the ornament. It has a looped end that secures it to the right side of the ornament with a button.

Outer pieces of fringe are looped, inner strands are straight. Protruding black beaded band borders all sides, with white triangle designs throughout. Jacket3515/6

Black woman's jacket with front opening and side slits. Strips of dark blue and orange cloth trim the collar; tassels embroidered at the ends. Sleeves have striped appliqués and open spaces in the armpits; stripes done in blue, white, red, and grey. Large embroidered panel across back consists of bands with geometric and linear motifs; designs done in red, white, blue, black, grey, yellow, pink, and olive green. Panel is outlined in white beads; triangles, made up of white buttons, extend from bottom edge to end of shirt.

Lizard Figure3448/15

Beaded lizard design on piece of cut-out board. The black lizard has a six-petal flower in various shades of blue and white on each foot. Down the length of its back is a wide stripe of alternating brown and red-brown, with green leaf-like protrusions on each side. It has brown and purple-blue diamond-shaped eyes, and purple-blue nose and mouth. There are other designs in light blue and light purple-blue on the body, with brown on the tail. There is a handwritten note on the wood base.

Bowl3448/13

Gourd bowl with beaded design covering interior. At centre, there is a red layered six-point star and six-line asterisk outlined in light blue and brown. Within the star is a hexagon in orange and yellow with a blue six-petal flower. Around the bowl are two large animal figures, six-point stars, and other geometric shapes on a blue background. The rim has rows of yellow, brown and blue beads.

Container3443/6 a-b

Silver container (part a) with glass insert (part b). The container has a bulbous body with concave neck. The sides are decorated with two raised dragons designs, with their long, wavy bodies wrapping around the side. The bowl sits on three globular feet, with a thin, flat handle extending from the back. The lid is hinged, with a small rectangular cutout at the front, pointed knob at centre, and a low relief dragon design wrapping around the lid. The glass insert fits snugly in the bowl of the container. Two makers' marks on base, including WH90.

Silver container (part a) with a glass insert (part b). The bulbous bowl stands on three barrel-like feet, each stamped with a small illegible makers' mark. Evenly spaced around the side is a repeated engraved design of three leaves.

Basketry3454/1 a-b

Basketry covered bottle (part a) with faded design of a whale and whalers in a boat around middle. Above and below the whaling scene is a single red line with half circles repeating through it. There are bands of faded black with repeating red dashes through the centre. On the shoulder of the bottle is an extremely faded black design. The base has various sizes of plant fibres used, and an oval design in bright yellow, outlined in black. Removable basketry lid (part b) has two red dotted lines around the side and a red circle on the top with a faded black spiral design within.

Lizard Figure3448/16

Very small lizard made of beads. The light teal body is formed by stitching the beads together with black thread. The lizard has a brown stripe down each side, and orange eyes. There is a single teal beaded loop under the neck.
