Vessel is made up of two barrel-like shapes, surmounted by a stirrup spout. Outer surfaces covered with a red-orange slip with traces of black painting on stirrup spout and on upper half of vessel body. Black designs on the 'barrels' are hatched and spiky, circular shapes. Each 'barrel' end has a large, recessed circle. Tall, slightly flaring spout. A well made ceramic with limited surface pocking.
A solid ceramic female figure, modelled on front side only. Face markings of triangles and stripes are painted in red slip and black pigment on top of white slip. Figure is frontal with partially modelled arms are bent lying across midsection. A loincloth and female genitalia are indicated by incising. The figure wears a red and black painted necklace or hat chin strap as well as a square-like hat. The eye is teardrop in shape. Slip is flaking off.
A small ceramic whistle modeled in human form. Facial features and costume details are painted in white, dark red and black. Headdress or hat has a central vertical stripe and oblique hatching lines. Clay loop on back. Whistling chamber opens in foot area with another larger opening in 'chest' area.
A fully modelled ceramic bull of light orange clay, crudely painted white with details in brown paint and green slip. Details of harness and saddle are flat while flowers, tail, tongue etc., are modelled additions. The bull is hollow with a small strap handle in front of the vessel mouth on the animal's back. The loops of fat at the front of the neck, which are part of the ritual cutting and featured prominently.
A white ceramic burner (part a) that has a band of incised key patterns with four stylized dragons. Stand (part c) and lid (part b) are bronze inlaid. The wood lid (part b) is intricately carved with two tailed creatures around the central bud-shaped knob. The wood stand (part c) has a flower at the centre with a floral design on each of the three petal-shaped protrusions.
Piece of brown jacquard-weave silk. Right side has been coated with a heavy black glaze, resulting in a stiff and shiny fabric. Raw ends, selvedges run length.
Black glazed cotton blouse with short standing collar, side slits and side opening with frog closures. The sleeves are one piece with the body. The bottom hem curves up at the sides. There is a pocket on the right inner flap. The inside is unlined.
Famille rose style porcelain vase. Against a white background are painted peonies in blue-purple, red-purple, orange-red and yellow; leaves are in light or dark green. The lip and the bottom part of the vase are adorned by heart-shaped and geometric patterns. Its underside bears a four character Ch'ien-lung seal.
Ceramic plate ornamented with a snake and lizard in grass, in high relief. Topside in shades of green and grey; underside is dark brown. Highly glazed. Oval stamp on underside reads "F. Gomes D'avellar Caldas da Rainha"; incised number '9' underneath the oval. Foot ring has two holes in it, through which a loop of rough cord is knotted.
Celadon ware with four legs, octagonal shape and circular well bordered by simple geometric petal design. Repetition of design on four-sided base.
