The item search helps you look through the thousands of items on the RRN and find exactly what you’re after. We’ve split the search into two parts, Results, and Search Filters. You’re in the results section right now. You can still perform “Quick searches” from the menu bar, but if you’re new to the RRN, click the Search tab above and use the exploratory search.

An arrow with several components: metal double-barbed point with a bark-covered fore-shaft wrapped with sinew, a short section of hollow reed (joining sleeve) a small shaft of carved wood (link shaft), another short joining sleeve, the main length of hollow reed ending with a notched wooden insert. Each joining sleeve is bound with sinew; the main shaft has two bindings, one strengthening the insert, the other repairing a break. All sinew is glued with a mixture of acacia gum and the melted hoof of a gemsbok. The link shaft and first sleeve are glued together with this mixture, as is the fore-shaft. The second joining sleeve is glued to the main shaft and bound to prevent splitting.
Two lengths of reed fitted together and bound with sinew in the middle. Sinew is dark brown.
Arrow is composed of two sections. Tan reed shaft is shaped at one end to fit the bow string, hollowed at the other end to hold black wood section. The reed shaft is bound at hollowed end with fibre, and fibre is wound along the length of the black shaft, which is pointed at both ends. The reed shaft is broken near the join of the two pieces.
Arrow composed of two attached sections: a reed shaft is shaped at one end to fit a bow string, and is hollowed at other end to hold a black wood section. The reed shaft is bound at hollowed end with fibre, and fibre is wound along the length of the black shaft which is pointed at both ends.
The basket is woven from natural coloured fibres in an open weave design. The rim is circular, but the basket sides slant inwards as the weaving ends in square corners and the base is made from two pieces of wood slotted together to form an 'X'. Bamboo branches run from the base to the rim on both the inside and outside of the basket. The outside branches are nailed to the inside branches. There are two loops on the outside of two of the branches at about the middle of the basket.
