Baby Carrier2739/1

Doll-sized basketry cradle. Dark brown and light yellowish strips of bark are woven into the basketry on outer sides in a repeating step pattern. A light coloured curved wood handle is tied on near the head of the cradle with strips of soft rawhide and several more strips are knotted on at either end and inside.

Basketry Motorcycle2744/1 a-c

Three-quarter scale basketry model of a Harley Davidson motorcycle. The front wheel and handlebars (a) are joined to the main body (b) with a rattan peg (c) and can swivel. Motorcycle sits back on a bamboo kickstand and back wheel, leaving front wheel suspended in the air.

Figure wears a pounded bark skirt with brown and beige diamond patterning attached around her waist with a metal floral clasp. A strand of seed beads is wound around her upper torso and yellow green feathers are stuck with wax to her ears and around her neck and head.

Large gourd container with two dark brown animal figures painted on the side. A spout at the top, fashioned from a tube of bamboo, is encased in a ring of dark resin-like substance into which are embedded a few yellow seeds.

Painted gourd container with spherical base and long curved neck. A small circular opening has been cut out at shoulder and thick black vertical lines run from top of neck to centre of base. A twisted grass string is looped through tiny holes at the top and knotted at the end.

Gourd Container2738/16

Gourd container with long, narrow, curved neck and circular opening near top end. Using thick dark stain or varnish, the outside surface has been decorated with flower petals, a large bug, triangles and zigzag lines, circles, and a looped snake made up of squares. A braided grass rope is looped through the opening and a small hole above it.

Small cylindrical woven basket with dome-shaped, fitted lid (part b). One side depicts a whale with jaws open, chasing a canoe carrying two people; on the other side, the whale is swallowing them. Flying birds encircle a floral motif on the lid. Motifs are woven directly into the baskets with dyed grasses; inside this basket, protected from the light, the colours remain vibrant: pink, purple, red, orange, and green.

Bull Mask2736/2

Round, two-part, red and white painted bull mask with natural horns and cow hide at top has foam lining attached with nails. Green bottle glass eyes surrounded with painted white cow hide stare upwards and there is a long rectangular opening below the chin. Several lengths of green synthetic rope are wound and bound around the neck joins, others emerge from inside through nostrils and holes in the head, one of which has a fibre bundle toggle at the end.
