Tapa cloth painted on one side. Intricate design of open form crossed lines that create large and small diamond shapes, each filled with a dense pattern of dark painted curved lines emanating from several four-petalled flowers. A solid border is painted around the entire edge.
Loosely woven square cedar bark basket with a detached handle (part b). The loose weave pattern is achieved by crossing the warp series in open twined work. On the walls of the basket the cedar warps criss-cross diagonally, fitting between the thinner and widely spaced weft. The base of the basket is made of thicker strips of cedar in a checkerboard pattern. The handle is short and braided.
Cylindrical bamboo pipe in two parts. The larger piece (part a) has a red brown bottom end. The top half of part a is red brown progressing to yellow with vertical brown grooves. The middle part of part a is decorated with an engraved design. The inside of the pipe is filled with a type of dried grass. The smaller pipe (part b) has two small grey green ends and a long yellow brown middle.
Closed necklace made from bamboo and seed ornaments. A section of bamboo is split in two and hangs vertically down the centre of the necklace. Both sections of bamboo are place side by side and maintained together with three small fibre strings tied at the back of the ornament. On each side of the necklace there is a row of ten small, oval, brown seeds. Two fibre strings knotted together close the top of the necklace.
White and light green feathers tied to sticks. Tiny plant fibres are wrapped around the feathers on the sticks to hold them in place. Small down-like feathers are at the base of the ornament with larger feathers at the top. There are two long white feathers with black spots at the very top. The sticks holding the feathers are tightly tied in a bundle with a rigid cloth tape.
Penis sheath made from the upper part of a bird beak and partial skull. The beak is light yellow, slightly curved and has a smooth surface. Two large curved lines have been deeply carved into the top creating three arrow-like shapes pointing down the beak. Both sides of the beak have small perpendicular linear incisions creating small checkerboard-like patterns. The top of the beak’s tip has small parallel, incised grooves arranged in a row. The opening has a round woven band wrapped around the back of the beak. Two tufts of grey hair are tied on both sides of the woven ring with a plastic thread. A plastic thread is also tied at the back of the beak through two bored holes.
Nose ornament made from shell carved to form two rounded, hook-like shapes that curve towards each other at the centre. Both parts are tied together at one end with a bark-like cord, covered with a black adhesive substance.
Carved wooden head made from a single piece of wood. Oval-shaped with a long angular nose, prominent brow ridge, deep set eyes and small upturned mouth. Hollowed out crevice under chin allows for the mouth to be carved out. The left ear has been bored through and two yellow brown feathers adorned with a light grey seed have been tied to it with a dark brown grass or rattan strips. The nostrils have also been carved out and a stick with two light grey seeds has been inserted horizontally through them. The head has a shallow outline of a hairline running across the top of the face on the front.
Stone adze with wooden handle. Long, smooth, wooden curved handle with perpendicular head. The stone bit is attached to the wooden head by strips of bark that wrap around both. The stone has a rectangular shape with an angled edge at the tip and is mostly smooth. Separate pieces of wood are lodged between the bark strips and the stone.
